Please explain how exactly?

Bear in mind that every time we've tried to play two up front this season the midfield gets totally over-run and we've struggled against the likes of Morton and QoS

We played badly, but the fact is we lost because of two idiotic individual errors from McDaid and Mackie.

McPake signed the players, yet cant get a formation that works against a decent side, and struggles against Morton and QoS as you have said, do we give him a free pass because of this? Id say thats a massive failing, not an excuse.

Ayr play very good football, yet play a bog standard 442, and do so on a tiny budget.

Defending McPake is just madness after that game.

Nah, McPake has built a squad with an experienced quality midfield, and has been in charge for 6 months. If you think, technically, having no real shot on target, at home, in a derby, is fine because United have spent more money, then you're completely deluded.

that includes no left sided midfielder or winger, a guy playing rightback who looks every bit as much out of his depth in this league as he did the one above, a LB signed from a part-time club, two viable centre-halfs in the entire squad, a bombscare goalie, and trio of forwards who might as well spend 90 mins running laps of the pitch for all the service they get because we can't play two up front without being totally exposed in the centre of the park,

But aye, sure, we should be doing better than 3rd in the league.

Which any time we've tried to emulate we've looked like pish because we only have one wide midfielder in the squad, and none of our central midfielders are athletic or physical enough to play as a pair in the middle of a four without exposing the centrebacks and being caught up the pitch constantly.

Simple questions.

1, Are you happy with how things are going?

2, Do you genuinely believe we are maximising the squads potential?

McPake signed these players, if there are squad issues, he is responsible.

He cant get a free pass because the squad is unbalanced as fvck, its entirely his fault.

Someone want to explain to me how Byrne got MOTM ? He's shiteemoji23.pngemoji23.pngemoji23.pngemoji23.png

I would've given it to Cammy Kerr. Appere got no joy from him all night and he at least looked like he gave a f**k. He needs to stop thinking he can just barge straight through players when he's running with the ball though.

There's absolutely no excuse for McPake here. He hasn't a clue what to do if Plan A (whatever the f**k that is) fails. He hasn't a clue how to approach a big game. Scraping wins against shite like Morton is utterly meaningless if he goes out and surrenders to the DABs. He's been backed to the hilt in terms of recruitment by the equally out of his depth Nelms but somehow manages to deploy a team with shite full backs, a pop star winger and a striker played out of position.

Shite. Get him binned.

I'm not sure how getting beaten by a team spending twice the amount of money on their squad that we have, when they've also had four seasons to get their shit together and assemble a decent squad = McPake being out of his depth.
This Dundee team isn't capable of winning this league, so I've no idea why some Dundee fans seem to be under the impression we should be. We've dumped about 25 players since January, neither McPake nor any other realistic manager would sort that out in one transfer window.
Performance was pish, but we're playing against a team away ahead of us in terms of money spent, and preparation time. We've just won three of our last four, so was McPake out of his depth for those as well?
f**k sake[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]. Is this an actual dundee fan or is it a parody account. He keeps on playing Byrne, Mackie and Forster every week. He doesn't look to change it up or do anything different. He's obviously tells them to just lump it up the park to the two 6"4 united centre backs in the hope that Hemmings wins anything. Slow in passing and moving, which resulted in loads of chances in the second half for United (see the 2nd goal). He's clueless.

Doesn't matter if they've spent twice as much as us or been able to build a squad for longer. You should give 100% in every game, especially this one, and you should be able to change things and do things differently. It's called thinking in your own

That game was so easy for them tonight because we don't have the ability to think about trying anything other than what the manager tells us to do.

1. I said before the start of the season that realistically playoffs were about what we should be expecting. We're sitting third in the table, so I don't see any reason to be talking about firing the manager.

2. The squad is being held back by the glaring deficiencies. I've no doubt Hemmings could score for fun in this league given the service, and that the likes of Dorrans could still easily play in the league above, but that in itself doesn't in any way mean we should be going toe to toe with Utd or sitting at the top of the table. For the Hemmings and Dorrans, we've still got complete dross like Kerr and Mackie on the pitch. You can't argue that we should be doing better because of two or three players and at the same time ignore the fact we're also having to carry two or three total liabilities.

Your midfield of Dorrans and Byrne, a midfield pairing most top flight teams would love, got dominated by a midfield containing Callum Butcher.
Money has nothing to do with what happened tonight
Dorrans is a decent player with good ability, but c'mon. Shaun Byrne is shite and couldn't get into the livi team. How he got MOTM and continues to get played every week is beyond me

After one transfer window, you're expecting a second tier club to put together a well balanced, competitive squad, especially when there's practically no holdover from the season before? Seriously?

Fairly easy to sum up that game.  Both teams poor 1st half.  Both managers give a half time team talk.  One team comes out raring to go with quick passes.  The other team continues the slow build up.

Hard to believe it’s possible but once again McPake has been outwitted by Neilson!

You're deluded if you think a midfield with Shaun Byrne in it is "experienced" or "quality"

We way we played in the second half (slow passing back to one another and not passing forward) is what we've done all season.

Nothing's changed

Whis the other "viable" CB apart from McGhee. Forster is shite and has been vullied by Shankland in two games now. Meekings is just shite.

That's a nice offer Crawford, kudos.

The only thing I'd add in is some of the stewards are arsehole (I know, I know) and unless they physically see you rip ticket from book they'll just flat out refuse you entry.

We are shite and we deserved that.

To cut a long story short; two stupid goals to throw away (looked a pen from the Derry, then Nelson basically gifts the second) but ultimately just not good enough all round.

McPake needs to carry the can for a second terrible derby — there’s a few good players in the side but there we go.

Thank you.

Ps. f**k Dundee United.

Pps. @Dele — not sure why this has quoted you; posting from the pub. My apologies.

He was given free reign to sign a new squad, we have what Hamilton, Kerr, McGowan and Nelson from last season? You'd think balance would be important in building a squad, but we have 5 central midfielders, pish wide players, 3 strikers, 2 defenders, the balance is miles out.

Yet you think thats a justification for defending McPake? I think thats justification for a P45.

Ayr managed to rebuild their squad just fine.
