More understandable if we want to offer him something, but just needless otherwise. Should have just kept quiet until we did get in touch or even said 'Awaiting talks' and nothing else. Presumably you dont want to offer him a deal, but dont want to announce it without telling him first, but also dont want to make fans think you offered him a deal. Maybe even dont want fans to think he rejected a deal when he signs elsewhere.
Boo Khaki
Reads to me more like both the club and Gowser himself have known for months his time was up, so he's understandably gone off on holiday or something hence the club being unable to contact him to 'officially' inform him of their decision not to offer a new contract. The point being, stating it pre-empts any 'I gave ten years and they couldn't even be bothered to say goodbye' pish concocted by either Gowser, his agent, or the press. Fifespud
More shambolic stuff - Paul McGowan Dundee Football Club can now confirm, having spoken to the player in question, that Paul McGowan will be leaving the club upon the end of his current contract this summer. Read a special tribute to Paul on the website.

SweeperDee
Get that man his badges and get him coaching the youths ASAP, seems to have screwed the nut and settled; and from all avenues he’s the best trainer the club has had.
Pens_Dark
They just don't make them like Gowser anymore. A legend at the club that demanded standards and was there with us through thick and thin. We were there for him too, mind you.

He was there for us...apart from the evening matches when he was tagged. Not sure we'll ever have someone missing from the squad for the same reason again. Impossible not to love the mad b*****d.

mychurch
Agree with all the sentiments. He could be a real asset as player/coach for some lower level teams. And us.
timbermill tactician
Hopefully coming to the pars. Mcpake loves him. Settled in well with us and sets high standards in training apparently.
Dundee-FC92
About time we passed on Gowser. A good first season under Hartley and from then in he's been very average with some good and some woeful games including 3 relegations. At the age he is now he's not what we need for the top league. The standards he set are missing on me as he played in multiple 6 2 defeats to Utd and was one of the worst players on the pitch against Cove away earlier in the season. Alot of the time he screamed at players for giving it away then went on to exactly that within the same game. Our fans demand better but are happy to accept average players, albeit McGowans character making him the lovable staff member - joined in with the he hates coppers song many a times. My memory of McGowan will be of someone who gave us some great moments and gave his all every game whether that was good enough or not. All the best Gowser and thanks for the moments. Hopefully the club has showed some loyalty which Gowser can be just as thankful for in return. No hero status for me, but a few fond memories to remember of the wee nutter in an all round decade of abjectness for the club. Thank you

Dundee-FC92
As for Marshall, McMullen and Jakubiak they've all given good moments throughout their time, but them leaving can be a good thing going forward. If McMullen didn't come in the January window under McPake we wouldn't of went up. Against top six opposition though he couldnt cut it and invariably looked like a wee boy. Marshall initially was very good and even this season has created a good few goals. His defending just isn't upto it. Jakubiak has been nursed through injury at an expense and finally started to show he's a decent player; hopefully his next club doesn't reap the benefits too much or its a mistake from us. Sheridan doesn't warrant a review. From the moment he signed it was another McPake howler. Next to go now has to be Robertson. Seems to me he has a lack of desire and is happy to be a bit part. He doesn't deserve a contract with what he's produced over years and when he played against Arbroath in January let's make it clear that he looked way below the standard required and played a big part in us losing that day. He's got great vision and technical ability nobody can argue with that. He's simply way off it in pretty much every other aspect however and the gaps when he's in midfield are scary. Go and play a full season in the Championship and progress your career would be my advice if there's any sort of self belief there. Playing for the reserves at Dundee won't do him any favours. Thank you. Edited June 1, 2023 by Dundee-FC92
Crawford
Sheridan was on twitter bemoaning not leaving during the last window. He's easily one of the shittest players we had last year but because he has a booboo we have to fucking look after him? Off you f**k.

He's been really unlucky in terms of two horrific injuries but he was absolutely guff when he was on the pitch. Any time he came on it genuinely looked like he couldn't give a shit; probably trying to think of his next 'funny' quip to tweet. Garbage banter and garbage footballer.
