wirez
Doesn't matter who gets voted in or which parties form a coalition, one is for sure we will get shafted right up the Khyber pass to pay for the mistakes of the bwankers etc and the like. Although the lead up to a general election is like a comedy show with the fannies trying to woo your vote by telling you that they actually care about you. Frankly today in our climate politically speaking, it doesn't matter which of the big two parties get into power, I do not see any difference between them other than the colour they pick for the party. Sadly there are hundreds of thousands in the Scottish electorate that will gladly eat the exact same shit sandwich for another 5 years as long as they wrap it up in red paper. They would never exclude the SNP from Scottish leadership debates. It would be a bad move for Labour to agree to these though. Labour's strategy requires them framing this election as being a straight fight between them and the Tories. The focus should be kept entirely on the Labour/Tory fight, to focus people's minds on which party they want leading the country. Debating the SNP pulls focus away from the bigger picture and suddenly a large chunk of focus will go back to Scottish politics.

jmothecat
Why on earth would that be a bad thing. We are voting to decide which politicians represent Scotland in the UK parliament. Of course it needs to be about Scotland and Scottish politics. From a Labour perspective we are voting for who we want to form the next government. jmothecat
That's like thinking about the Champions League when you are currently in the relegation playoff position. Labour up here have massive enough problems without worrying overly about Westminster. If, and I repeat IF, the polls are correct, the best predictions are showing Labour being virtually wiped out in Scotland. The reason for that is because Labour have traditionally thought more about Westminster than Scotland. People are now starting to realise that and the ground has subsequently changed. From a Labour perspective you really ought to be voting to prevent an electoral wipeout in Scotland. For that you need to talk about and attack the SNP. It's astonishing that this message hasn't sunk home yet with Labour voters. Has 7 years of SNP rule taught you guys nothing? It's not like that at all. Labour's tactic is, and has to be, that a vote for the SNP is a vote that makes a Tory government more likely. By having a debate about Westminster politics in Scotland that message will get diluted. This isn't a Holyrood election. Labours message is: want to get rid of the Tories? Vote Labour.

That tactic is only going to appeal to the voters who intend to vote Labour regardless. Keeping in mind the very simple argument to that is, we did vote Labour and we still ended up with Cameron as PM I really don't think Labour have understood yet they're no longer soon as the "good guys" of politics or how much people loath them right now. You're going to have a massive amount of new voters who registered during the referendum , voting at a GE for the first time that are desperate to give Labour a political kicking Labour will be resorting to bussing grannies to the polling station as usual
