Can anyone explain why P&B polls have been so massively in favour of Scottish Independence and the SNP? It seems skewed way beyond any rational explanation.

A much younger and much more male cross section than the wider electorate for a start. Both indicators which tend to favour the SNP and independence.

Also, folk that can't use computers don't post here - takes away a lot of Labour/No voters.

Ignoring the last bit, yes I appreciate the demographic of P&B posters but it still disproportionate. Not complaining mind.

I'm guessing non-OF football fans tend to identify much more strongly as Scottish rather than British as well, on average.

I tend to think of Green supporters as well intentioned people who take politics seriously. That said I don't really understand why they would vote Green in this particular election; particularly given that most people are recognising could see a sea change in Scottish politics.

A vote for SSP in this election is also a waste but I don't see the point in trying to engage SSP supporters in a debate on the merit of voting any other way.

Overall vote percentage is still important, especially if the greens make serious inroads.

Slowly slowly catchy monkey. Your logic is the same logic that says a vote for the snp is a vote for the Tories.

That's because of the FPTP system. You either vote for the front runner, or you vote against them. Voting would be much better if it was like the European elections where it's proportional representation. That way there is no wasted votes. Yes, you might get a few more BNP types, but at least it's representative and not going to warp the political landscape if 6 of them get in among a sea of 600

Will be voting SNP for the first time in West Dunbartonshire. Despite being an unquestioned Labour heartland since the dawn of time I am fully expecting SNP to win. Which will be extra hilarious given Gemma Doyle's pathetically desperate plea for votes all over social media in recent weeks.

This politics forum isn't really the place to come if you have opposing political views tbh. Some do it, but if you can't be arsed with endless argument, ridicule, and stuff like 'verge of tears' and 'how come sport' or 'champ', you probably would bother. It would be like a socialist constantly visiting Conservative Home or something.

Also, nationalist politics is a simple concept which is easy to get behind and drum up loud mouth support for. You don't have to think much.

Totally ridiculous comment.

Whilst the referendum is past there is no doubt that the result of this General Election and next year's Scotish Parliamentary Election will have a major I fluency on the whole Independance issue. The best thing for the Greens and the SSP would be an independent Scotland with a PR system for elections, therefore the best thing in this election is to return as many SNP MPs as possible. It's simple, tactical voting.

People could revert to their party of choice I next years election.

Unlike complicated British Nationalist concepts such as 'breaking up our family of nations', 'turning your family into foreigners', and 'the broad shoulders of the Union'

Exactly, the more SNP votes at GE2015 then the more likely Holyrood will be able to extract some real powers from Westminster which means the more power the minority parties of Scotland will have in SE2016.

The performance of the Scottish Greens over the last couple of years has almost guaranteed they will get my list vote next year.

An SNP/ Green Alliance in Holyrood with real home rule powers would be a pretty good runners up prize to losing the independence referendum.

Unlike? Not really. Pretty similar in all honesty.
