I don't think players can go on or return from cross border loans out of the window. May be wrong on that.

Could be financial implications though if the new manager decides not to play them.

These cross-border loans are publicly acknowledged as loans, but aren't the 'temporary transfers' that fall within the SPFL rulebook.  The parent club essentially releases the registration as if it was a free transfer, for the loan club to sign the player for the period of the loan, then at the end of the loan the parent club re-registers the player on the same terms as before.

As a result you can have as many cross-border loans as you like, but there are strict limits on Premiership teams getting loans in from other SPFL clubs.

The parent club can't recall the loan in a way that you could in the SPFL (although I am guessing that depends on the terms of the SPFL temporary transfer on a deal-by-deal basis).

I was just coming around to the idea that LC had done a decent job, considering I thought they would be in ICT's position just now.  But if he stayed longer-term he might have had trouble with the short-term signing strategy.  I guess we'll never know and that will be the next manager's problem.

Kilmarnock FC announces the departure of Manager Lee Clark who is joining English Football League One club Bury FC as Manager.

Lee joined Kilmarnock just over a year ago and guided the club to safety in winning last season's SPFL Premiership Play-off Final to deliver a 24th successive season in Scotland's top league. A very busy summer of permanent and loan signings saw a new look squad at Rugby Park for season 2016-17 as Lee stamped his mark on the first team. More new recruits arrived in the January transfer window enabling the club to advance to sixth in the Premiership.

When Lee expressed a desire to move back to his homeland, the clubs swiftly agreed terms for the early termination of his contract which was due to run until May, 2019. While disappointed to lose Lee so soon, the Board of Kilmarnock understood his desire to be closer to his family and embrace a new challenge.

Bury FC Chairman Stewart Day welcomed Lee with these words:-
“We are delighted to have agreed terms with Kilmarnock for the services of Lee as our next manager, I have been extremely impressed about what Lee has achieved and I have to thank the Directors of Kilmarnock in the professionalism of how they have dealt with the matter. I wish Kilmarnock all the best for the future."

Lee Clark added:-
"I have had a wonderful year as Kilmarnock manager. The club & fans have treated myself and my family fantastically- we are in a good position with a strong and loyal squad and staff. The Directors have given me their full support in rebuilding the squad and the fans will always have a special place in my heart but I still have huge ambition to one day manage at the highest level in England, which is obviously the Premier League, and I feel that the fresh challenge of managing a club in England's League One could provide me with the platform to build towards this goal."

Everyone at Kilmarnock FC thanks Lee for time with the club and wishes him the best of luck in his new post at Bury FC.

Hi, first time poster, I'm Canadian and a bit of a nerd for Scottish Football and love keeping an eye on teams who have young Scottish talent and I have to say that Kilmarnock have confused the crap out of me these last year or so.  They have signed so many players while also developing some good young talent such as Greg Taylor and Greg Kiltie.  Whoever takes over from Lee Clark will have a big task of cleaning up the recruitment plan, and clearing out some of the old guard.  If the Scotland team are going to really progress then the SPL needs a whole fleet of managers who give youngsters a chance.
