If we win this one it's hopefully back in our own hands for the last game of the season against Cowden makes it an interesting finish to the league at least.

I reckon you might have to win this one. I can't see us fielding a full strength side against Livi.

I quite like the utter shiteness of Central Park, I want Alloa down as they are just frustrating to play against, it's always cold there and I put money on it at the start of the season.

But to get this thread in order. That Stephen Simmons is a bit pish isn't he? :P

He's injured. Doesn't matter as we've got Flanny the free kick king in midfield now.

I was hoping that a point here and a win against Cowden would be enough to get us 8th. Livingston's draw tonight changes things however as you would fancy them to beat Dumbarton and QoS - who will by then be in play-off preparation mode - and get to 27 points (I'm hoping they lose to Hibs and Cowden don't beat Hearts). As such we really need to win this or beat Hibs at Easter Road as well as that Cowden game to beat 27.

Can't say I am overly optimistic about either happening but I would say that 1 point is a rather harsh reflection on our efforts against QoS this season and that a win isn't out of the question. The team must have got a real boost from last week and the arrival of Danny Lennon seemed to give them a timely boost. We can but hope.

I agree with that actually. If anything the one you drew was the one you least deserved. You are very unlucky to have got nothing from your two trips to Palmerston. Had us under the cosh for long periods of the first one. 2-0 flattered us more than any other home result this season. The more recent 1-0 win looked destined for a scoreless draw for a long time too.

1-1 sounds realistic. Think we're down without the three points. Lennon will need to wring every last ounce out them for the win, but what an evening it will be if they manage it :thumsup2

Recreation Park is a dump though, fit for the lower leagues only I'm afraid.

Lower league team in lower league ground shocker.

Away back to The Grove and spooge over the splendour.

Bring back Falkirk fans and their crowd wanks. Stadium wanks are an all time low. Deary me.

Christ, are they still on that?

Is he the club chef???

Not yet.

I'd like to see him take over as physio, personally. His "rub a stock cube on it" approach would lead to some interesting matches. Mainly due to dugs chasing the players around the park.

Any pre-match thoughts ahead of this one?

I always view Alloa as one of the tougher venues in the division, we seem to draw an awful lot up there, although I think SD pointed out in the past that our record against them isn't anything like as bad as people seem to think. Considering the match means an awful lot more to them than it does to us I'm a bit concerned we might drop points. I'm sure Fowler has been drumming it into the players all week that it still isn't "job done" regarding the playoffs, but in all likelihood if we don't seal it this weekend, we will next when we host a Dumbarton side with nothing to play for. The players will have this at the back of their mind regardless of what the manager is telling them.

No need to risk anyone who is carrying a knock, but equally no need for massive changes either thus risking losing momentum. Based on the assumption that Kidd is injured and Russell and Millar are fully recovered I'd go with -

Clark

Hooper Dowie Higgins Holt

Carmichael Millar McKenna Russell

Lyle Reilly

Paton doesn't do it for me on the left-wing I'm afraid. His best position is behind the strikers when we play a midfield 5, although Carmichael's performance against The Rangers in that role would suggest Paton isn't even first choice in that role. Millar was excellent when he came on against Falkirk. His ball retention was far better than McShane who seems to switch off too often, making too many slack passes and lazy decisions.

If Kidd and Durnan are both fit I'd probably return to the back 3 system as the extra man in midfield allows us to dominate that area better. It was an area we lost out in badly against Falkirk, although I accept that tiredness was a massive factor in this. Those two would come in at the expense of Hooper and Russell.

Going to go for a 1-1 draw.

Tend to agree with most of this although with the same team I'd take us to sneak a win.

Hooper played well up there last time, same again would be nice.

Livi getting a point from the Govan draw specialists the other day has made this a game which we can't lose. I want the win but will settle for a draw. QOS are a good side and I think it will be them in the play off final come the end of the season. Hopefully Danny can work his magic again on the squad and get them to lift their game once more.

Same team as last week. 2-1 McCord & Buchanan.

Really keen for us to win this one.

Obviously, that's the case with all games, but it would be great to secure the play-off spot before entering the final fortnight.

If we lose, there's a fair bit of pressure to beat Dumbarton next week and I'd rather be more relaxed.

A win would also allow us to gaze upwards with a trace of hope of doing better, yet.

Like Martyn says I would love a win but would be happy with a point. Anything we can get from the next 2 games is a bonus setting us up for the final day showdown at high noon!

A point would be a good result for us, realistically you won't take anything from the Hibs game and we won't take anything from the Hearts. The difference between a draw and defeat isn't huge for you so you should really go for. Nothing to lose.

I think there's more chance of you picking up points from hearts than us hibs because hearts have nothing to play for. Still cannot see either of us picking up points though

We have to go for the win here and I'm pretty sure Danny and the players will see it that way too. With Livi on a decent run, not infeasible that they'll pick up at least 6 points from their remaining three fixtures, then it really is a 3-way fight for not only 8th, but the playoff spot as well. I reckon all three clubs will go into the final fixture with the possibility of finishing the day in any of the bottom three places. To be honest this wouldn't be a bad thing because it would mean both Alloa and Cowden would have to play for a win on the final day rather than one team trying to perhaps stall the match and time-waste their way to a draw, which might only guarantee 9th instead of 8th anyway. I'm sure the players would rather have an earlier holiday and the club have an extra fortnight preparation for next season too.

I'm optimistic about the Hibs game because they've been all over the place since overtaking Rangers (doing a Hibs, if you will). If the Dumbarton game turns out to be more than a single good performance, I can see us getting something.

With the greatest respect, Cowden are getting nothing from Hearts.

Quite keen for alloa to go down, nothing against them personally but one of the more expensive grounds to get in with kids.

Noticed something on facebook earlier about the club considering letting school kids in for nothing. Didn't give it much attention though. May just be for the last game of the season though. Done this before.
