Its about how our politics is organised within these isles, if you believe Scotland should be independent you're a Scottish nationalist, if you believe there should be a UK you're a British nationalist. There is no in between its impossible. You need to educate yourself a bit more before you can start sighing at anyone. Its in the fucking dictionary these days too. People who describe themselves as nationalists do so because that is a big priority in their political beliefs. Scotland is in an extraordinary situation at the moment, so a lot of us do so. People who care more about other issues, like fairness, socialism, immigration or whatever would describe themselves differently. If somebody doesn't give a toss whether the capitalist elite rip us off through their stooges in Edinburgh or London, you can't accuse him of being a BritNat. Just on one aspect, we're going to be very short of people like medical professionals in the nhs when the top rate of tax is racked up by Sturgeon. She says 50%, but I imagine higher rate. Even a 50% will see a huge brain drain over the border. Don't get sick unless you have private cover. Uh-huh, so explain why the highly taxed Scandinavian countries aren't desperately short of a high-skilled, high-paid workforce. Be very specific. The Scotland of The SNP is a bunch of regressive wee fannies. But you don't appear to live in Scotland anymore. I don't see how you can't be a nationalist for the reasons you listed. Especially if you don't believe those issues can be suitably addressed under the current borders you belong to. But if someone votes to preserve a political and economic power structure that was dreamt up 300 years ago by semi-feudal noblemen to preserve the privileges of their class and promote the imperial aims of the British Crown (ie. the Union), then you can.
