Queen's Park.

Recommended Posts

Clyde's first ground was Barrowfield Park, then in Bridgeton but on today's maps, Dalmarnock. The ground was leased for £50 per year. The lease expired in 1898 and the owners had other plans for the area. Clyde upped-sticks and moved across the river to a sports field in Shawfield after another team in the East End had cast a huge shadow over them.

The new ground was also on leased land from the Dixon family (they of the Blazes) and the move almost closed Clyde as a number of creditors tried to liquidate the company. And it remained this way for 30 years when Clyde, on their uppers for the third time in 3 decades, tried to piggy-back the racing frenzy and buy Shawfield and have Glasgow's premier race track, with a bit of football at the weeknds but the League stepped in and enforced rules that greyhounds would always take second prize to football and no football ground could host dugs. The Clyde chairman came up with the cunning plan to have the greyhound guys buy the stadium and let Clyde become the tenant. And that's how it stayed until 1986 when Clyde were evicted from their spiritual home.

So your 100 years is a bit short...Clyde have never owned their land nor stadium. Probably never will.

Shut up, you absolute sausage.

Sean Burns. What a disgrace yesterday. Despite another inept performance ( would one if our coaches please teach him how to channel) he maintains the captain's armband which is a role that demands leadership, on and off the park. A decent number of QP fans made a long journey in hellish road conditions to support their favourites and, as always, encouraged the team right to the end. And what does the skipper do at the final whistle? Walk over to the fans and pay homage? Naw. Encourage the other players over to thank the fans for their support? Naw.

Run straight across the park, ignoring the opposition players, ignoring opposition coaches (all the best for the next round lads), ignoring the match officials and not so much as a nod in the direction of the club's fans. Aye. First up the tunnel was our leader.

Step up Ryan McGeever. The only player to directly walk towards and encourage a few other players to applaud the fans. Man's just joined us and he's got more about him than Brylcreem Burns will ever have. Tony Quinn would have every stripped player over at the fans.

Burns. Leader of men? Never.

Hartley has apparently been at quite a few of your games this season, any idea on who he could possibly be looking at?

Another Dees fan was asking about our keeper a while back so in the style of the Daily Record that would be the one. Might be our loanee striker from Thistle. We have another very promising loanee from the Other Hoops but he's sidelined at the moment - terrific prospect though.

Ominous statement in the last para of Chris Duggan's profile at PT. He's been pulling it together in the last few games. Physically stronger than Carter when Gus plays one up front but when he had closer support from the midfield he looks more like a striker. Seems he also chose QP over others, so that's fine by me too.

The funding issued by the Government (£3.5 million) during the redevelopment of Hampden in the early 1990's amounts to state aid which is forbidden by FIFA.

Discuss.

The psychological states of Projection, Deflection and Denial all within 20 minutes. I'll leave you in peace.

Good to see Tony Ralston's loan extended to the summer. Surprised but delighted by that news. Maybe he'll be used in a more forward role? He's listed as a midfielder on the Celtic Dev Squad site.

Chris Duggan has gone back to Thistle. Didn't get the goals we (he) hoped for but led the line and worked hard. Like any player who has done his best for The Spiders I wish him all the best wherever he plays.

Aye ok Sigmund, only need to look at your post count on Clyde threads to gain an understanding of psycho. You also have no concept of time, still using that Mickey Mouse learners watch to help?

Blair Spittal linked with Hull City for £1million. We'll surely have a similar deal in place to the Robertson one? If so, we can look forward to possible nice payout and some "but you're amateurs!" from shrieking fishwives. Both would be just lovely.

But where would the money be used? Gus has all but called time on the youth development side of things - preferring to bring in 16 year olds from other clubs instead - and the social club has been completed. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few more professional loanees turning out for the amateurs come February if Spittal does move to Hull.

Glad to see that even QP fans are growing tired of the bi-annual constitutional reforms at the club. Nasty business.

It will be all the more hilarious watching them spunk this additional money on their way to the annual playoff bottlejob.

As Tennyson would have put it, "tis better to have reached the play-offs and lost, than not have reached them at all" - remind us all of Clyde's league positions over the last five seasons since you regained your rightful level in Scottish football?
