Indyref2 is so unlikely now SNP officials are starting to talk about DevoMax.

Chris Hanlon is a fucking weirdo who somehow managed to stumble into being policy officer on a platform of anti-everything about the SNP which was enough to pull together a broad coalition of Salmondistas, TERFS, the TU Group, the Socialists and Gerry Fisher. This may make him the greatest leader of our time right enough.

He was of course emptied at the first opportunity last year.

The Policy Officer is essentially a minute secretary for the NEC and a resource to assist members to draft competent motions.

People like this are why I'm entirely comfortable with the party having an unelected unaccountable shadow leadership.

2023 NS will ask (presumably) Sunak by then, to be told 'no'....so whats the plan?

Surely have to enter the GE saying that a clear majority of Scottish seats means a start to negotiations, as suggested before. If the Tories block that outcome, take them to court.

There is absolutely no chance NS delivers an IndyRef, let alone wins one.

You succinctly demonstrate a grasp of nuance so skewed that I wonder where you've been these last two years

I see the ‘who pays Scotland’s state pension’ debate has opened up again?
Time for the Nats to come clean on this one and be honest that there is NO pot available and a new SG will be responsible for paying them from day 1.out of new contributions.
No debate, Murdo Fraser regurgitated the same nonsense that was spewed out by Better Together in 2014. Which was debunked by ...the DWP.

I think you’ll find that the DWP subsequently stated that ‘it would be the responsibility of any new SG to pay the state pensions of its citizens from the date of independence’. Just as in the UK, current pensions are paid out of current contributions. The entitlement is built up over many years within the UK system but payment is the business of the particular government at the time.

Obviously it comes from current contributions. Which makes this a real non story.

Unfortunately there are still plenty of dumplings that buy the "paying into the big UK pot" story and they are exactly the demographic that such unionist propaganda is aimed at.

The logical assumption is that Scotgov will finance pensions similar to how UK gov does just now........Unless we can build up some kind of sovereign wealth fund (aka Norway) .....you know like Scotland should have been able to do over the last 40 years, if it hadn't been saddled to a big leech.

"Saddled to a big leech". Love it.

Things must be desperate it DPB has spun the 2014 wheel of shite and landed on Pensions.

I'll consider that one after I've done a bit of bin diving for the kids tea and flung the frozen corpse of grandma Agnes into the canal. When the C1 demographic starts to think that the UK is a busted flush, that's the tipping point. I think we're at that now.

The poor and vulnerable are facing destitution despite the SG offering a bit more support to these groups. The formerly "just getting by" are about to get a kicking. When you don't see any benefit to your hard work, financial struggle and hardship ahead and your children having potentially fewer life chances and a lower standard of living than you- it's not so much of a jump.

Factor in the circus down south and the fact that STILL, England can't face voting for Labour, I mean, come on.

I agree.

Its just that quite a lot of your co- separatists seem to think that the RUK will be paying Scottish pensioners after the date of separation. They will be paid out of post - separation contributions just, as you say, happens at present.

They also believe that there is a big UK pension pot. I'm sure they'd be mortified if they learned that pensions are paid from current tax contributions.
