Dipple burn
Amazingly two of the most famous Talbot players are Dundee legends. Ex player Bob Shankly went on to manage the Dee and win the Scottish First Division Title. Bob was Glenbuck born and bred but due to the demise of the Cherrypickers he turned out for a season with the Talbot in a time where the players had to buy their own football strip. In the title winning team at that time was Hugh Robertson who played well over 200 games for Dundee. Hugh was born in the Dallsalloch Rows in Auchinleck and played for Talbot in the 1956 Ayrshire Cup winning side. He signed youth forms with Dundee and used to work Monday to Friday down the Barony pit before traveling by train to Dundee on a Friday night. He was later signed full time so no more mining. Hugh went on to sign for Dunfermline winning the Scottish Cup in 1968 playing alongside Sir Alex Ferguson

His wife, Barbara, still owns The Royal (Hotel but it's just a pub) in Dalry. Had the misfortune of being in the pub the night he was found dead upstairs. There is still some memorabilia of his Dundee playing days behind the bar.
blue manalishi
This one is Roy of the Rovers stuff - 17 yr old Arthur Graham started the 1969 -1970 season playing on the left wing for Cambuslang Rangers. After about a dozen games at Somervell he was snapped up by Aberdeen , went straight into their first team & finished the season playing at Hampden in the Scottish cup final in a 3-1 win for the Dons over celtic. Arthur went on to play for Leeds Utd , Manchester Utd & Scotland.
Brig O'Lea
Defender Willie Bell who played for Leeds Utd through the 1960's. Played in the 1965 FA Cup Final and once was up against Eusebio and Pele two weeks in a row. Later became manager of Birmingham City. Tommy McMillan who won the 1970 Scottish Cup with Aberdeen. Dixie Deans of Celtic fame. Peter Weir is the most successful with 2 Premier League titles, 3 Scottish Cups, 1 League Cup, a European Cup Winners Cup and a UEFA Super Cup. In our previous incarnation as Neilston Victoria, Bobby Templeton was a Farmer's Boy who went on to play for, then manage Hibs from 1911 to 1936. Although he didn't play for us, current vice president of the club Denis Connaghan won a league title and Scottish Cup with Celtic and was the goalkeeper for the two infamous matches between Celtic and Atletico Madrid in 1974. tamthebam
Desmond White was City's goalkeeper in the 1930s before going on to become Celtic Chairman later on. And our club historian said last week in the club that some spotty 15 year old called Ronnie Simpson played a game in goal for City...., Our most famous modern player is Steven Godden off the telly news "..there's a man with a mullet going mad with a mallet in Millets...." PRICEY
Of the three Denny Junior teams that played at one time or another..Sir Matt Busby played with Denny Hibs. The Hibs also produced the great Scotland captain Jimmy McMullan who led the Scots to a 5-1 victory at Wembley.Denny Athletic produced arguably Celtics greatest centre half in Wullie Loney, nicknamed the Oblitorater..Probably most famous Pace player would be Ronnie McKinnon, though a mention for James Allen of Glasvegas.
