Maryfield is a bit of a bellwether ward.

There was a time the actual Maryfield bit of Maryfield (the ward covers maryfield, stobbie, stannergate and town centre) could be expected to return a few Tory voters, Labour votes would have been weighed. Changed days.

I travelled a fair bit around Scotland and never saw such a concentration of Yes support as I saw in stobswell.

Morgan Street and Albert Street were a sea of Yes stuff in the referendum.

TUSC in Dundee are a coalition of all sorts. Democratic left, SWP, SSP, old Labourites, non affiliated trade union reps.

Uniquely among far left wing groups they are a pretty normal bunch of guys and girls you would happy have a pint with.

Not the SSP, they are affiliated to Rise and would never join up with the SWP again after the Sheridan split. The Socialist Party Scotland (ex-militant) are the biggest grouping within Tusc. It is confusing.

Had to google TUSC but it seems they want to leave Europe but aren't keen on their fellow travelers. Cracking result for the Greens, infinite swing.

Election 2015: Scottish TUSC launches manifesto

The Scottish Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) has launched its election manifesto with a call for a £10 an hour minimum wage.

The manifesto will also pledge to end zero-hours contracts and included a list of what it described as "100% anti-austerity" measures.

TUSC is fielding 10 candidates in Scotland for the general election.

The manifesto launch in Glasgow came as campaigning across the country continued ahead of 7 May.

TUSC is backed by the RMT trade union, socialist organisations, leading trade unionists and anti-cuts campaigners.

Public ownership

TUSC spokesman Brian Smith said: "We utterly reject the savage austerity plans of the establishment parties.

"Neither do the austerity-lite promises from the SNP who, despite their words, have implemented billions in Tory cuts in Scotland since 2010, offer a real and consistent alternative."

With 135 candidates throughout the UK, TUSC said it was the sixth-largest group contesting the general election.

Mr Smith added: "Scottish TUSC is offering total opposition to all austerity, public ownership not privatisation, a living minimum wage now of £10 an hour and the abolition of all anti-union laws."

I've just posted their 2015 election manifesto.

There is no mention of Independence.

Why would a UK wide electoral coalition have a position on independence published in their Westminster manifesto?

Anyway I can reassure you that TUSC activists were some the most active Yes campaigners in the referendum.
