Distant Doonhamer
What an absolute embarrassment for the Australian authorities. Doesn't change my view that Novak is an absolute c**t but there we are.

Lex
Remarkably the Australian authorities have managed to come out of this looking even worse than Djokovic here. What a bizarre clusterfuck.

Stevo Fife
My friend in Oz tells me that you have to be fully vaccinated in order to attend the Open as a spectator. All about the money. Absolute clusterfuck and Djokovic is a selfish c**t. Hope he gets boo'd to f**k and punted early doors.
AMMjag
It's a massive, deeply embarrassing 'L' chalked up by this cretinous racist state in front of the watching world, which is fine by me.
welshbairn
An antibody test might go somewhere towards proving he had Covid in December, which seemed a bit too convenient.
tamba_trio
I'm surprised they haven't cancelled his visa on account of him swanning about whilst infected. I'd have thought that not being willing to self isolate would be a pretty obvious reason, given how strict countries (especially Australia) are being. Given that you need to be vaccinated to go just about anywhere now, is his plan to get covid just before he travels from now on?
welshbairn
Couple of more things have come up. He said he hadn't travelled outside Serbia in the last fortnight in the landing form for Australia, he'd been to Spain. And some people say, Der Spiegel included, if you scan the QR code on his PCR test certificate it gives a negative result. Others disagree on the latter point.

The landing form doesn’t ask this question. It requires you advise “In which country did you board this flight or ship”, also your country of residence (if a visitor or temporary entrant) and “Were you in Africa, South/Central America or the Caribbean in the last 6 days”

Haven’t travelled since 2019 so ATD must be a covid extra.
Arabdownunder
They should cancel his visa midway through a match. Immigration officials storming onto the court during a third set tie-break. More entertaining than tennis. I thought his brothers reply was pretty telling. He was asked if Djokovic knew he had covid on 16th December and his reply was "yes, everything was public and all the documents are legal". Firstly, it wasn't public considering this is the first anyone had heard of it, secondly nobody questioned the legality of the documents but he felt the need to stress everything was legal. He never had covid IMO, which tbh I'd rather he was lying about that than going to visit a class full of kids and hug them all in full knowledge he had covid. He's still a horrible c**t, and his god awful Farage wanking family can f**k off too.

Mr. Brightside
According to Ros Atkins testing positive for Covid has never been a valid exemption, but Tennis Australia thought it was. Quite why it matters what Tennis Australia thought is irrelevant. He shouldn't have been allowed in.
welshbairn
Meanwhile, one of Djokovic's neighbours in the Melbourne detention centre has been there and others since he was 14. He's now 23. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/djokovic-plight-serves-up-refugee-reminder/ar-AASE5qA
welshbairn
Either Djokovic lied to Australia about not travelling in the 2 weeks before arriving, or he lied to Spain about not having tested positive for Covid in the 2 weeks before arriving there.
