D.A.F.C
Still into it although not bought much for two years. Love doing the odd mix now and again. Probably too many to chose from.
BFTD
Just occurred to me that Philpy may have started this thread to find 'mobile DJs' to go to the pub with. Consider yourselves warned.
jimmy boo
There is a shop just opened in Dumbarton Rd Partick selling vinyl. 1000s of records only had a quick look but looks Ok. There is also a record fare this Saturday at the QMU. Is there still a record shop near Ashton Lane? I offloaded dozens of old albums there many years ago.....actually probably about 25 years now!!!!
Hillonearth
Is there still a record shop near Ashton Lane? I offloaded dozens of old albums there many years ago.....actually probably about 25 years now!!!! If you mean Lost In Music it shut probably 7-8 years ago. They were dying a death towards the end just like a lot of independent shops - it's a shame places like that couldn't have hung on in there for a few more years till the resurgence in interest in vinyl. It's weird how things have gone full circle regarding vinyl, although the cynic in me suspects that the record companies have finally twigged to the fact that it's the one medium you can't readily make a copy of unless you have a set of masters and a small pressing plant in your garage...
Edinpar
Trying to cultivate a collection, not many LPs at the moment - maybe 50-60. Mainly new pressings, but got a couple of interesting older ones. Bought a copy of The Queen Is Dead from a shop in Camden only to find it was a dodgy Polish bootleg which was bright yellow and out of order on side 1.
pantene proV
Picked up Sister Feelings Call by Simple Minds and Architecture & Morality by OMD for £10 totes at a record fair on Sunday. Both originals and vinyl in excellent condition with only the OMD sleeve having wear along it's edge. Loads of shite and many worthless bootlegs but the odd wee gem if you're prepared to spend an hour flicking through at these fairs.
BFTD
I mind finding a copy of Tell Us The Truth by Sham 69 in a charity shop I worked in twenty years ago - it had been very carefully coated in black matte paint across the surface of the vinyl; seemed like a real effort had been made to avoid getting any on the labels. I'm only mentioning this because WTF? Very odd behaviour.

I mind when Sham 69 played Manc back in the day, they pulled up in a white van in town & jumped out giving away copies of What Have We Got? BallochSonsFan
New shop in Partick? Need to check that out. Will be going to the fair in Bellahouston tomorrow. If I'm early then I may check this new Partick shop first. Oxfam Music on Byers Road can be decent too.

BallochSonsFan
Just ordered the Neko Case boxed set. Tried to get it via local stores but nobody had it or could even price it. Her official merchandise store was £20 cheaper than Amazon and the only inconvenience is that it's shipping from Germany rather than the UK so it's up to 1 week delivery. Also had a chance to go to the record shop in Ayr. Fat Sparra or something. Great wee shop with a pretty good range of 2nd hand records. Definitely be going back there

Kennboy1978
I've recently inherited my grandpas original 1974 Linn LP12. Got loads of vinyl in the loft - mostly 12" 45's though but the Linn only plays 33. Think I need an adapter of some sort to play them
