New Forth Road Bridge - Open/Closed still shit

I always think when you see the tens of thousands of cars going through fife and into Edinburgh to work maybe there's a business opportunity missed for Fife? If you built office space etc then surely people would rather work at home then travel through that hell every day?

That would mean 24/7 of hell. You're right though, why do companies choose to locate in one of the most expensive locations in Britain in the age of broadband and efficient telecommunications, and where many of their workers can't afford to live? Amazon didn't.

The whole setup is wrong. Edinburgh folk sell up flat. Move to new housing estate in fife and work, play and shop in Edinburgh. Massive business opportunity missed. Dunfermline has increased by about 20k in 30 years and the town centre has went downhill at the same rate. Go figure.

Just guessing but I'd say that there would be more workers from Edinburgh working in Edinburgh than people from Fife. The problem would just be going in the opposite direction surely?

Or is this a whoosh?

What is this M8 / M9 link folk are talking about?
The M8 and M9 are already linked at Newbridge a few miles down the road from the new bridge.
Am I missing something glaringly obvious?

I assume people want to separate the traffic to avoid the daily mayhem at Newbridge. Seems ambitious but it's not necessarily a bad idea.

It should be remembered the bridge isn't just for Fife, it's the main route into Edinburgh for traffic from Dundee, Aberdeen, Perth, etc. It's shite to have all that, plus Fife commuters, plus the M9 traffic from Falkirk, Stirling, Linlithgow, anybody heading anywhere along the M8, all meeting in the same spot at Newbridge. There's most definitely room for improvement on the current system.

They should all be made to row across the Forth, see how keen they are to commute then.

Probably be quicker. Survival of the fittest. I used to cycle in (on the rare occasion the bridge wasn't shut to cyclists due to high winds) and it was quicker for me to get from the western corner of darkest Fife into leafy south west Edinburgh by bike than it was to drive, or try and get to train stations.

I'm thinking of writing up that business case. Commuting across to Edinburgh got old some time ago. I could quite easily do the same thing from a Fife sub-office. Result being I save money, I reduce my carbon footprint, the company saves money as it doesn't require as big an office. Everyone's a winner.

Call me defeatist, but asking the likes of RBS or Standard Life (which the many other firms revolve around) to move to Rosyth might be a bit on the ambitious side.

Because some heid bummer might need to travel from his Edinburgh penthouse rather than his 1000 minions from Fife?
