Slightly more Blacks voted for Trump than voted for Mitt Romney (pretty much 1 in 10). Are they racist? Are they accepting of racism? Are the real racists those who expect the vote of ethnic minorities because they release an advert in their language, or get a popular rap singer alongside them on stage? Or expect the minority vote simply because they haven't acted like their opponent, without actually really trying to help them? (These are hypothetical questions, I don't necessarily disagree with you. But this election has shown identity politics is not as big a deal as is made out. US minorities could've won the election for Hillary Clinton, but chose not to). Yes they are racist and/or accepting of racism. No, the "real racists" aren't those who expect, as a matter of basic morality, that everyone, regardless of the colour of their skin, should vote to destroy racists. No, it's not racist to get a "popular rap singer alongside you on stage". That's called having support from a cultural icon. You're the one attaching importance to the colour of their skin. And yes, people should be expected to vote for non-racist candidates even if they are ineffectual, and against racist candidates regardless of what other goods they promise. Racism should be a sine qua non disqualifier for public office.

It's a toughie. * Spoiler Edited November 11, 2016 by vikingTON

It's a toughie. That's not accurate. The motion is not a "pro independence motion". I know because I helped to write it.

Ad Lib
Sometimes the only honourable thing left to do is to cut your losses and move-on. As a direct result of the way Parliamentarians mischaracterised the Liberal Scotland in Europe motion, I have intimated my resignation from the Scottish Liberal Democrats. Open to nomination for any P&B party if there is any politician you'd like me to stand behind as they are politically decapitated in an election near you.

strichener
I communicated my resignation to the party leader this evening. Don't take this the wrong way as it is actually meant as a compliment but I bet Willie is absolutely ecstatic.

I remember Willie Rennie when he was at Paisley College - he was under the Trots' thumbs in those days. Just as effective as he is these days . . . .

I am now off to get drunk on supermarket own blend whisky & scream about cockroaches. Open to nomination for any P&B party if there is any politician you'd like me to stand behind sniggering before shitting it when they turn around & catch me as they are politically decapitated in an election near you. Have already asked Labour but Kezia's said "f**k off, even we've still got some standards!"
