He should be demoted to either League 2 or asked to referee in the feeder Lowland or Highland Leagues. Send him to Brora or Wick for a game for example.

They should send a regular taxi to pick him up from the station instead of his expected limousine.

Why's that then? Because he got a couple of high profile decisions wrong? A little perspective from some wouldn't go amiss. He hasn't actually committed a crime. Everybody makes mistakes, he's had an unfortunate run of high profile ones recently, but it hardly warrants treating him like a leper.

It is fairly unusual to give him three in a row though.

Yes, it is, and the fact the press are reporting it as a "demotion" probably means there's some substance to it. I was more commenting on the general implication that Collum and others like Craig Thomson refereeing at this level is particularly unusual. It's not.

Is that where criminals are being sent these days ?

The SFA have probably thought it's for his own good. Take him out of the limelight and the media coverage high profile games bring for a short period and let it 'cool down' before bringing him back.

This. The idea that Collum is being "punished" by doing a Championship game is an utter nonsense. He;s done Championship games at regular intervals all season. It's not his first. He did our game at Livingston on January 2nd too. Was he being "punished" then too?

All the referees, even the very top ones, occasionally do matches in other divisions.

Yeah they do, and so they should; but its more the point that its patronising in the extreme for it to be viewed by the media that refereeing a Championship match is "punishment" - because Collum (or whoever) has made a mistake in a big boys game, this is clearly viewed as one that matters more.

Collum has a history of shocking gaffs - punishment should be suspension, if 'punishment' it is to be. Why should he get to feck up Falkirk v QoS or Ayr v Cowdenbeath any more than Partick v Hearts?

In response to SD;

Although Collum is supposed to be representing Scotland in the European Championships in the summer.

Best out of the limelight for a while so he can take a reality check for when he'll officiate higher profile matches than in Scotland during the summer.

Which they have done by giving him a couple of weeks in the Championship. The idea that they should send Scotland's (theoretically) top referee to do Brora or Lowland league as some sort of disciplinary action is ludicrous.

Okay, trying to keep perspective on this, as you suggest - Let's not have Collum hung from the nearest yardarm, but honestly; were you surprised or not that he got the gig for France this year?

It wouldn't do him any harm either though, would it?

I was surprised yes. I was thinking that Craig Thomson would get the nod.

Sure with Jim in goals circa 225 minutes this season we have conceded a looping one in a hundred volley. Not bad for such a poor keeper.

P.s your league position will be confirmed roughly 9.30pm on Wednesday.

Hi. It's roughly 9.30pm on Wednesday. What's the position?
