I've been to Murrayfield many times,only once for a football game though and I was pitch side so it wasn't an issue.As for Hampden creating a superb atmosphere other than the fans themselves it has no redeeming quality to assist in this. Murrayfield is not perfect for football but its bigger,steeper and is better for fans for facilities and access. The SRU have a 65k stadium in the heart of Edinburgh, with excellent transport links. They've also got a number of training pitches right next to the stadium. It's the ideal set up ready to go for a national stadium, if only the SRU/SFA could hammer out a deal. The only complaint is the size of the pitch for football games, with fans being quite far away. That's already a problem at Hampden, does anyone know how easy it is to modify other stadiums for football use? Like West Ham at the Olympic stadium or whatever? 10menwent2mow Posted November 23, 2016 Share Posted November 23, 2016 While the thought of a stadium in Stirling or somewhere is appealing you really don't have the additional facilities required. I'd suggest a lot of fans make a weekend of a Scotland game, stay in hotels, drink in bars, go to restaurants and you really need a big city with the infrastructure to deal with that.
