third lanark
It's not a lack of trust or faith in Archie on my part - that is reserved for those above him. Those who allocate him his budget for the season. I worry they might be leaving him well short of what is required. If we were to sign Miller, we'd have a competent starting XI, but a concerning lack of depth and experience to call on when the inevitable injuries and suspensions come into play. I found the statement about English players baulking at the wages on offer unsettling and bewildering. If we were predominately targeting English based players, surely we'd have known what their wage demands would likely to be. Still three weeks yet and Archie has proved himself more than competent in the transfer market. I just hope his board don't sell him short. Some good points there. I trust archie and on the whole he has made some great signings. And this isn't aimed at Archie 1 - Who was that said getting safety confirmed early gave us a huge boost over other clubs in the bottom half of the table eg Ross Country, Motherwell and Killie. The point being I guess we could go target players as we were safe while they were still fighting for their safety. Im not convinced that has been the case as they all seem to have made a fair few signings (albeit some good, some not so) while I presume a number of our key targets eg Lyle Taylor do not appear to have been secured. True I see the argument that we still have 3 weeks away, and theres still plenty of time, but it the other side of the coin could be that bringing them in earlier allows them more time to gel with the other players, gets them involved with the training and fitness side of the clubs quicker as well. 2 - Im still not fully convinced that the clubs supposed 'scouting system' in England is as good as Maxi seems to believe. At first glance we could say the scouting system down in England over the last couple of years has identified: some great players for us - Taylor, Seabourne (when fit), Osman and Higgy - Some average to poor players - Buaben and Moncur Some poor players - Eccleston and Carroll And the awful Mukendi So a bit of a mixed bag. But on further investigation I would say of those in the great section 3 were actually sourced directly from Archie from what they had done in Scotland - Taylor and Higgy at Falkirk, Osman at Gretna. Therefore it wasnt out English scouting system at all but Archie that got these players. The Scouts down in England have so far identified only the one real gem - Seabourne when fit - while some of the others - Eccleston, Mukendi and Carroll have been shockers. Obviously David Amoo may fall into the excellent category but its too early to tell at this stage. I would prefer to see us go with the Dundee model which seems to go actively with both players down south but also some cracking players who have turned out to be really good from the divisons up here - Kane Hemmings, Bain, Greg Stewart, Loy etc. Far from convinced that Maxi's claim that by solely concentrating in England lower leagues will pay dividends, but I guess we will see soon enough. So still quite a bit of work to be done I feel nor do I believe that its instantly going to guarantee more success in just scouting down in England w

But we aren't 'solely concentrating' on the English leagues, we've just signed Booth and Cerny from Hibs. And the 'Dundee model' is something we've been doing already. As you said yourself, the likes Taylor, Higgy and Osman all impressed in Scottish leagues, which is likely why we had an eye on them. McDaid and Fraser are another 2. We generally can't afford to compete financially with other clubs who raid the lower leagues for the best players. There's also no guarantee the likes of Loy and Hemmings will be any good. Both failed everywhere but the championship, and Hemmings wasn't considered good enough when on trial with us.

Jan Vojáček
Closed doors.10:55 kick off. I presumed it was at the Rock Said in our programme for the Hearts game that it wasn't at our stadium. I saw a guy on Twitter say it was at the Science park a wee while back. 10:55 is a very weird kick off time, is that definitely it? Edit: Could it be a case of players meet at 10:55 and the game starts at 11:30 or 12 possibly? Doesn't make any odds to me, it's 5 minutes down the road anyway!
