El Gringo Jag
Only reason you will never fill a job like that is you are not offering enough money. Buy cheap buy twice. Get that salary up and get someone good in that can prevent as best they can injuries. Will save in long run.

BigMadMental
I appreciate the sentiment of Graham signing for another season but considering we have literally just extended his contract by one season, I’m not entirely sure why we have given him yet another year. It’s admirable that he would possibly like to retire at Thistle and wish him all the best throughout the rest of his time here, and really hope it all goes great: but not entirely sure of the context behind it. Presumably there is more to it. For example securing compensation should he take a full time job in the Women’s game, or additional duties in his final year moving towards coaching.

Celtic wanted him as their womans team manager so we had to move to keep him.
Fuctifano
Did think it might be related to Celtic but I also thought he'd have to give up playing if he wanted that job which I'd have guessed he's not ready to do yet.
BigMadMental
In any case he was under contract for another year and a bit anyway so if Celtic wanted him, not sure the significance of again extending his contract? wondering if it’s a play to increase compensation if he does leave at any point and has more time left on his contract Edited December 27, 2023 by BigMadMental
AlwaysThistle
Been treated to hospitality on the 2nd for the game against Queens. It says smart dress code applies, is jeans and a shirt considered alright at these things or is it a more suited and booted type thing?

With an idea like that you should work in match day hospitality at Firhill, the punters would be queuing down Maryhill Road.
Red Kite
No Jan Akkerman, but I found out that the current Focus line-up are playing near me in 2024. I need to wear something tastefully Thistle to watch these cats.
jagfox
Have we ever lost back to back hat-tricks to an opposition team before? I assume it might have happened but I cannot think of any examples? @The Thistle Archive Edited December 30, 2023 by jagfox

Saw them earlier in year at the Ferry....No Akkerman ,however, young Guitarist was ace as was big Thijs Van Leer and Pierre Van Der Linden from early line ups ...possibly my gig highlight of the year ...a few shouts of "Mone Jags" when Sylvia was played !!

Excellent. Good to know, thanks. I have had House of the King popping into my head over the past few weeks, which has been surprisingly enjoyable. I think Sylvia live will be worth waiting for.
The Thistle Archive
Most of the post-United updates now in place... experimental new match hub (slight) re-design → A DOUBLE MILESTONE ● 22-year-old Aidan Fitzpatrick becomes the 200th Partick Thistle player to hit the 100 competitive appearances mark. He's the youngest to do so since 21-year-old James Penrice hit the mark in November, 2020. ● Kevin Holt and Tony Watt of Dundee United make it back-to-back hat-tricks for Dundee United versus Partick Thistle. In competitive action, such an occurrence has only been seen twice against Thistle in the last 50 years; in the springtime of 1982 Davie Dodds scored back to back hat-tricks for Dundee United and early in 1974 Donald Ford and Drew Busby did likewise for Hearts. Historically, there's now been ten streaks of two in total, and two streaks of three (Rangers 1898-1899 and Celtic 1898-99). ● Dundee United's last 3 hat-tricks have all been registered against Partick Thistle (Watt 2023, Holt 2023 & Shankland 2020). Bizzarely, this applies to 5 out of their last 8, a run which started back in 2013. ● Partick Thistle have never registered a 2nd tier win at Tannadice, now with 5 attempts since 2018. ● At the halfway point in the league, Thistle have conceded 30 goals in 18 games (relegation form) yet remain clear in 3rd place. This is due to the extra-ordinary number of high scoring games, with the combined ratio totalling 3.556 goals-per-game. You need to rewind back to 1900-01 (3.682 gpg) to see such a high total in a second tier season. ongoing sequences: ● 44 consecutive competitive appearances for Steven Lawless, 18th Feb 2023 to date. (Longest run since: Jack McMillan - 52 games, 9th Jul 2022 to 4th Jun 2023. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)
adamntg
It’s a bizarre little league. Two teams duking it out for the title, seven teams in a relegation battle and only Thistle mid-table, despite being third. And one of those relegation threatened teams will end up in a promotion play-off.
