Smurph
I had a glass bottle of Irn Bru earlier today. That’s Diack extended until 2027. Happy with that.
Fuctifano
Yeah, ideal. Said earlier there wasn't much point in him going out on loan until he'd signed an extension, at least this was if he does go to say a league one club and does well enough we won't lose him for statutory compensation. That said, he might well stay here for the season.
Claudia Gentile
Good to have Diack on board long-term. It does five him the scope to go out until January or even for the season if the squad determines that may benefit him in terms of minutes played. If Hibs could get Megwa signed up on a similar length of deal that would be great.
Fuctifano
I think that leaves the following as out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 season Mitchell, McCready Milne, Williams, Muirhead, O'Reilly Bannigan, Robinson, Lyon plus Taggart and Turay as the other 2 modern apprentices from last year. Other than Milne who I presumed would have let his contract run down last year but thankfully didn't, I don't think there's anyone in that list we should be rushing to get tied down.

The Thistle Archive
The Jags will embark on their 79th League Cup campaign this Saturday, but it's almost 50 years since we so much as made the semi finals in 1975, groan. The 1950s was a remarkable decade for Partick Thistle as the club competed consistently at the highest level of the Scottish game. Our latest Partickle explores the remarkable story of three league cup finals in five years... 3 League Cup Finals In 5 Years → As an added bonus, a 1957 advert to keep this thread on topic...
Fuctifano
Maybe putting two and two together and making 5, the fact we had a trialist keeper vs Hearts suggests we don't have anyone lined up on loan for that position or else we'd just have played Mitchell and McCready. Things might have changed in the last week though or the trialist was a backup option to have a look at in case the loan fell through. It's really unusual for us to be this close to having a complete squad before the league season starts never mind the league cup.

Still hearing murmurs of Adeloye. Not sure there’s any more obvious player in the market up here so would presume someone from down south or loans coming in. Doolan left greaves early because he “had a flight to catch” so dunno if that’s work related or a short break before the weekend.

You could have least got his flight number or destination so we could get on sky scanner and build a rumour

Or a short break. so one would assume work related to meet a player. A domestic flight you would imagine Left greaves about 2 - flight time maybe 4ish? Between 4 and 7 yesterday only 3 domestic flights from Glasgow being Belfast, Glasgow, Dublin. We are closer than before.

Agree with this - Doolan seems to go about recruitment (and to be fair all other aspects of his job) really professionally. Excited for the new season!

Don't think McCready will be anywhere near the team unless we have two injuries or suspensions, I was meaning that if -at the time of the Hearts game- we had a deal (loan or perm) agreed for a keeper and just waiting for it to be formalised we wouldn't have played a trialist keeper in that specific game.

Yeah absolutely. We do need someone. id have just gone for someone with experience in the league and not necessarily thinking out the box. someone like Gaston or that baldy Inverness keeper canny mind his name . at least then if Mitchell is injured you have an experienced keeper coming in. short term fix but either way you’re going to need a new keeper end of this season anyway.

Mark Ridgers. Been there, done that, got the awful memories. Incidentally, I see he's made a big Twitter post about managers wanting to sign young keepers to sit on the bench instead of him. Reid
Kerr would be a downgrade on McMillan but a solid enough signing for this level. Could just be Doolan’s comments and Kerr leaving Dundee are a coincidence.
