Seem to remember he scored on his debut but not much news since. It hasn't really worked out for him but there is definitely a player in there. He can be quite reminiscent of Kris Doolan at times. Lots of nice touches and clever movement and some decent hold up play, but he is primarily a penalty box striker and his all-round game needs some work. I think he'd benefit enormously from an Azzez-esque partner but we don't have one and he's struggled playing upfront on his own. His confidence is clearly low after missing a couple of sitters recently but I'd expect him to be pretty clinical when on-form. I agree with itzdrk that a spell in League 1 for the rest of the season to play a bit more regularly and get his confidence up would be the best thing for him. I actually think he'd do fine in the lower reaches of the Championship in the right system, but none of the other relegation candidates are likely to offer him that chance at the moment, and he could do with the boost of playing for a team looking up rather than down in any case. Worth persevering with at Thistle IMO. Edited December 26, 2016 by Meathead

monthefife
James Penrice (left back) has joined East Fife on-loan for the rest of the season. Any good?
Hammer Jag
He looks like an outstanding prospect. Let him take your corners and he'll cause havoc with his deliveries.
Griff Sheridan
What HJ said. Cracking little player. Would expect him to do well at that level and get great experience against more physical opponents than the development league.
Cheeky M0nkey
End of last season game from May earlier this year. Young James takes both the corners in the video and we got a goal from each of them.
professor challenger
Can't really comment on his overall game but the boy can cross a dead or moving ball about as well as anyone I've seen at Firhill.
GrahamJags
Never thought he's looked out of his depth any time I've seen him. Needs to improve a bit defensively and needs to bulk up a bit, but he should learn that with East Fife. Like others have said, his dead balls are great. Easily one of the best talents to come out of the Thistle Weir Academy so far.
Armand 2
Had Cerny been fit all season, I suspect we would be at least 5 or 6 points better off. All hypothetical of course but I doubt he'd had conceded the goals that haddy Stuckmann did and his effect on the defence's organisation is clear for all to see in my opinion.

We were talking about that at the game last night, and I'd say it's absolutely true. I can't imagine Cerny getting chipped like Stuckmann did for Stockley's goal against Aberdeen, or clattering into our own defender to chuck in a goal against Motherwell. Stuckmann was just about the level you'd expect from a third choice keeper, I guess, so can't be too harsh on him, but Cerny just looks more assured in literally everything he does.
SetPieceSpecialist
At the end of the game Cerny was almost jumping into the North stand. You could really tell how much the clean sheet meant to him. Now that he's back, we'll be able to run down the clock more easily when under pressure as he's somewhat of an expert in that field. He's also prone to pull out a super save every one in a while which can't hurt the team.
jagfox
Totally agree re: Cerny, barring the first Celtic game he's been solid. The defence has done well and restricted the chances he's faced too. A win win.

I'd add Dodoo's winner to the list as well. Also, as SetPieceSpecialist mentions, Cerny is up there with Kenny Arthur and Bryn Halliwell in the time wasting stakes. Great keeper.
jagfox
Will the Aitken Suite be showing the old firm stramash on Saturday before Glasgow's big match?
SetPieceSpecialist
Regarding Saturday, from what I've heard, Killie only have one fit recognised centre-half and considering they've just been beaten 4-0, would it be best to maybe change from the 5-at-the-back formation? Having Doolan, Azeez and Erskine all peppering a weakened defence could be key to winning and maybe further improving our goal difference. From what I've seen, Killie struggle to cause problems going forward when Coulibaly is stopped so keeping tabs on him should be a priority. Any thoughts?
