No it doesn't.

Yes it does, started last season. All the money is spilt between the teams in that round.

Where was this announced? We were televised in both the group stages and the quarter finals last season and there was zero mention of splitting the money then.

Amazing day for a Thistle fan all but out the Cup then a freak result at Hearts gets then back in  then in the draw  get Celtic probably a live TV game and will make over £100,000 what a bonus for losing to Ayr yesterday !!!

Yes, another buttfucking by Celtic will lift our hearts no end.

First you said it started last season and then it started with the new group stages which have been going for 3 seasons now.

Do you have a link to anywhere this change was announced?

I don’t have any link to any announcements but here’s a link to a Daily Record from last year that shows how the money is divided up. It only takes into account from the QF onwards but it’d be strange if the rule only applied at the QF stage and not the round of 16.

All that does is confirm the 6 that were televised out of the 8 teams in the quarter finals got a TV payment of £21,500 that the other 2 didn't get.

Quarter finals tend to be made up by 8 teams not 6 teams. Six teams got a tv payment because there were three quarter finals shown.

The SPFL announced how the prize money for last campaign was divvied up at the start of the season - https://spfl.co.uk/news/betfred-cup-boost-for-spfl-clubs

It may have increased again this year, but I'm not sure.

I think you and your fellow Ayr United chum are confusing the Betfred Cup with the Scottish Cup where teams voted(to the ire of Celtic and Rangers) to reduce TV payments from £85,000(roughly) to £30,000 with the rest increasing the payments for teams at that round. £80K is a lot of extra money for teams to get on the basis of the luck of the draw so I believe that is why it was voted down.

The reason I asked was that I believed Ayr Utd and Kilmarnock only got something like £12,500 each for their live game last season.  Like I said in my original post I could be wrong.

I was pretty sure that was the case as well.

Football and TV is a touchy subject for me just now though as I've just noticed that the Spanish and Italian leagues won't be shown on UK TV in the coming seasons along with USPGA Golf. It makes me wonder why I pay for Sky or BT Sport as La Liga and Serie A were the biggest draws and main reasons for me.

I think they'll be getting cancelled and the money saved used for all Ayr away matches next season.........

Ayr United and Kilmarnock got £12,500 each because it was live on BT sport. If it hadn't been televised you wouldn't have got anything.

Only teams that participate in television fixtures in the Betfred Cup receive television payments(as financial compensation for the inconvenience of moving the game and any drop in crowd because the game is on tv), which increase as the rounds go on and the fixtures become more high profile as the competition reaches the final.

The article I linked to above from the SPFL makes it pretty clear to be honest. I don't really get where this "tv money is shared between all the teams" idea has come from for the Betfred Cup.

I hear rumours that we are targeting Shankland

Well, if true, that would be a massive waste of time. Absolutely no chance we would pay the fee that Ayr would want.
