Motherwell FC - A Thread For All Seasons

Recommended Posts

I still wonder if Groningen are making it more difficult for him to return to us ?

Lets face it they will think they have been sold a pup. £5-600k and he has done hee haw for them.  Also if they still owe us money and have not paid in full.  Perhaps we are relying on the money and cannot write some of it off which is what they want. Again they may just want him to go anywhere else but us.  Seems petty but you never know.

I don't doubt we have tried to get him back.  I don't doubt that we could probably match what St Mirren are offering.  Maybe they say you can stay here or go to St Mirren.

Alternatively St Mirren could be offering a lot more and it is as simple as that.

It would be a sore one to see him play for a rival.  Even if he takes a few weeks to get back to full fitness.

His tweets kind of read like

  • Heart, Killie and St Mirren are interested in KVV
  • Oh, 2 hrs later,  Motherwell have realised this might be a go-er so they've been in contact
  • 6 hrs later, Killie and St Mirren have deals in place. Couple of news outlets pick that up and run with it as a headline

As @RostokMcSpoons says, it doesn't say we are out the race. We are...hopefully...just an hour or two behind in getting a deal in place. Fingers crossed etc.

Aye, I think (seriously f***ing hope) we are just working away in the back ground. These Sun and record Exclusive's of having deals agreed with two clubs and it being down to the player don't seem entirely accurate.

Motherwell are out of the running to sign Kevin van Veen after being 'blown out of the water' by Premiership rivals Kilmarnock and St Mirren.

Herald Sport understands that the Fir Park club did everything they could to bring the former Fir Park hero back to the club, and that a reunion with Stuart Kettlewell was Van Veen's preference, but their best offer only amounted to HALF of what Saints and Killie could ultimately put Groningen's way.

Motherwell will now move on to other targets having accepted that they have no chance of landing the Dutchman on a loan deal until the end of the season.

But wait......is Killie's wage bill not significantly lower than ours...
