Lets face it they will think they have been sold a pup. £5-600k and he has done hee haw for them. Also if they still owe us money and have not paid in full. Perhaps we are relying on the money and cannot write some of it off which is what they want. Again they may just want him to go anywhere else but us. Seems petty but you never know. I don't doubt we have tried to get him back. I don't doubt that we could probably match what St Mirren are offering. Maybe they say you can stay here or go to St Mirren. Alternatively St Mirren could be offering a lot more and it is as simple as that. It would be a sore one to see him play for a rival. Even if he takes a few weeks to get back to full fitness. Herald Sport understands that the Fir Park club did everything they could to bring the former Fir Park hero back to the club, and that a reunion with Stuart Kettlewell was Van Veen's preference, but their best offer only amounted to HALF of what Saints and Killie could ultimately put Groningen's way.
