Bohemian
SPFL: Dundee not offered 'sweetener' over vote - Murdoch MacLennan Dundee were not offered any "sweetener" to change their vote over ending the lower-league season, insists SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan. MacLennan also said "care should be taken to consider" Rangers' motives after they succeeded in calling an EGM to ask clubs for an investigation into the league's handling of the ballot. A league-commissioned probe surrounding Dundee's vote found no evidence of improper behaviour, but was dismissed by Rangers as "alarmingly failing to examine wider fundamental issues". After Dundee reversed their no vote, the lower leagues were called, giving the SPFL the power to end the Premiership early on the same points-per-game basis. In a lengthy Q&A, stretching to almost 3,500 words, MacLennan also said that: Issuing loans to multiple clubs was "unrealistic" The SPFL should not have placed a Friday 17:00 BST deadline on ballot responses They would have been "accused of unwarranted secrecy" had they not declared the votes that evening They were "fully entitled, and can hardly be criticised, for accepting the view of the overwhelming majority" Many calls were made, to many clubs, between the vote being called and Dundee's final submission but that is "entirely normal practice" and that he sees "nothing wrong whatsoever" with board members lobbying clubs The SPFL should have "expressed concern and regret" for the relegated Partick Thistle and Stranraer https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52472020

Is it 2 weeks? Is it 2 days? For formal meetings, you'd be expected to send any papers a week in advance, in my experience. For me, it's less about when these documents are supplied, and more about the content.

No faux outrage, just a straightforward and reasonable statement, based on the real world. Take note Sevco The only thing sevco are concerned about is stopping Celtic off the pitch because they cant do it on the pitch.. And we all have to suffer now. I imagine they are trying desperately to prove some sort of wrong doing so they get the season null and voided..

Too busy basking in having saved league leaders from null and void, perhaps? Apologies also to due Falkirk, Edin City, Kelty Hearts, Bonnyrigg, Brora and maybe even (through gritted teeth) Hearts. People need to stop looking at this as a Rangers v Celtic matter and taking sides based on that, rather than what is right.

Not denying that mate. Of course rangers are acting out of self interest, when have they ever not. Was just responding to CambieBud when he asked what rangers end goal is. Null and void is their only objective IMO Hearts end goal is reconstruction because it's in their best interest etc. Edit. Hearts probably wouldn't mind null and void too.. Oh, I don’t know. How long did Doncaster give the lower league teams to digest the 105 page report?

It's c***s like Cosgrove and Cowan at the weekend there, though - trying to take the moral high ground by declaring that clubs have to stop acting on self-interest - easy for them to say when there's not much at stake for their respective clubs. More often than not, people will act on self-interest.

Romeo
Null and Void.. it's the only way they stop Celtic winning 9, 10 11 IAR etc... That won't stop us.It would serve to push it back a year, remember, "The Rangers are coming"Apparently...

I apologise, my questions were - of course - rhetorical and based on some suspicions I have that Scotland newest club are "at it". My suspicion is that Rangers rationale is to avoid publishing this evidence, thereby derailing their own demand for this independent investigation and falling back on the tried and tested "Everywun hates the Teddy Berrrrrrs, its a papist conspiracy" which tends to rally the Boris Johnson / Donald Trump types that tend to follow that club.

Big bad Sevco again. Yes, Sevco wanted a fair chance at finishing the league which still had a lot to play for with 9 games left. Hearts wanted a fair chance at avoiding relegation when they had 8 games to play, including games against relegation rivals. celtic wanted the title, statements from the captain, manager and CEO confirm this. Right now Motherwell get third place and a Europa place, maybe at Aberdeen's expense. Burrows would be foolish not to support the spfl here. Dundee United will want promoted out of the championship despite not winning it. St Mirren and Hamilton could avoid relegation if the spfl succeeds with this, they'll support the spfl for their own interests. I could go on and describe more teams motivations but you get the picture. It's not just the dreaded Sevvies up to no good, we're doing the same thing as any other team would.

The clubs elected them to govern the game, so unless there is gross misconduct here then they are leading us through it. You can't pick on moments of incompetence in the midst of a crisis and decide you want to change the entire leadership. It would be like calling a snap general election because you felt that lockdown should have been implemented earlier than it was or that PPE supply for the NHS hasn't been appropriate. A lot of it depends on what the evidence is and whether or not other clubs care. There still needs to be investigation over the vote fiasco. and not just Spfl directors doing their own Q&A. This is the first time that we've followed through a complaint against the authorities, usually it's just a statement then nothing. Yet we're trusting the 'incompetents' to deliver something as complex as reconstruction.

I agree with most of your post that all clubs have self interest at Heart...............however I need to pull you up on this line (basically because its shite). No club (certainly none that I could think about, including Hearts who are perhaps the worst potentially affected in the Premiership) would be acting like Rangers have over the last few weeks. This is nothing to do with having a bit of fun at your expense on P&B, its pathetic and childish behaviour from one of Scotlands largest clubs.
