The teams in that midsection of the Italian league are utter no marks. The English Championship is better than that.
Would signing a 35 year old free transfer from Preston or Wolves get the **** creaming their pants?
No. They would not be creamy at all.

Do you not remember the John Eustace fiasco?

Gotta love how people assume a newly promoted side will be shoeins to be challenging for a European place

This decade newly promoted sides have had some success with this, Rangers and Hearts have claimed European spots over the last two seasons, Hamilton spent much of their first season back in the top three before falling away badly and same season Dundee also were there and there abouts. Ross County only just missed out by a few points on their first season up. Inverness CT were in a good position in the first half of the season before falling away. Only Partick and Dunfermline have not been in a position to challenge during their first season up.

So it would be safe to assume this promoted Hibs side will spend much of next season in the top six there or there abouts in the Euro places or close enough to challenge, not so much because promoted sides have a good track record but because they genuinely look a better side than 8 of the Premiership teams and could probably be as good as both Rangers and St. Johnstone.

It's sad that Sevconians like nacho define their entire sense of self-worth relative to how Celtic are doing.

Same the other way round as well.

i did also state we would need a fair number of other similar quality signings to be in with a chance of mounting a serious challenge

Ryan Jack it is then

I understand where you are coming from but Dorrans has had family/personal issues to deal with, amongst other things.

I'm sure if signed, he will be a big asset. Better than anything we've got or had.

He can play as a defensive or attacking midfielder

Aberdeen: Derek McInnes insists Ryan Jack will not move to Rangers

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says Ryan Jack has assured him he will not be joining Rangers in the summer.

The 25-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been linked with a free transfer to Ibrox.

But after speaking to Jack, McInnes reckon the reports are off the mark.

"He gave me assurances that there has been no contact, that he doesn't anticipate contact and that it's not something he's interested in," McInnes said on the club's twitter account

Aye well you've already got Union Jack so you might as well make it a set.

 © yours truly.

Anyway.  A terrific photo-montage from the ever-dependable Aye Ready's Youtube channel.  What a support we've had this season and it's lovely to see fans from all across Scotland and beyond joining to celebrate all things Red White and Blue:

Do you think that Aberdeen will use the freed up wages to bring in similar replacements?

Tansey's on the way in anyway, likely we'll need to replace McGinn and Taylor too. I'd like another striker, but don't know what McInnes will have planned. It's his biggest job, transfer wise, since his first season.

A timely reminder of quite how central nasty sectarian sentiment is, to the appeal of the club for so many of its followers.
