Hibernian vs Dunfermline

Recommended Posts

You'd think Dunfermline were winning the way their fans were reaction after the equaliser. Credit to them though, made plenty of noise (might've been helped by Reilly's goal silencing us).

McGeouch was excellent the moment he stepped on the park. McGinn did what he could in his isolated position. Thought we should've pushed Bartley up further for the free kicks near the half way line near the end

We were quite right to be going daft. Not that much between the sides ultimately we gave you the game with two gifts.

Good game today. And a good atmosphere too. Thought Hibs were worth their win, but we need to sort these defensive errors. First goal, Hutton shouted to say he had it. He then shouted "Ben's ball" as BRE was trying to get forward, out the keeper's way. This meant that Ben was always leaning back. No excuse for the keeper doing that. Ball was harmlessly floated into the six yard box. Second goal, was hard to tell from the other end of the pitch, but if it was within the 6 yard box, particularly with Fordyce facing his own goal, the keeper should have claimed the ball across the goal. Hibs always looked dangerous, but we did well to limit them to shots from outside of the box for most of the game. The quality showed in the end though, and they did deserve to win.

Was impressed with our performance. Thought Fordyce (second goal aside) was excellent at CB, despite that being his first appearance in over 11 months. Cardle was our MOTM. Higginbotham looked dangerous, but distribution wasn't great. Moffat looked lost. Reilly was quiet, but did really well for his goal, and made a few good runs off the ball. Hopefully he can kick on from here. Geggan and McCabe put in a very good shift as deep lying midfielders. McCabe was often covering for the full backs when they attacked, which is something we've lacked in recent weeks. Pleasing to see. All in all, we put up a good fight and will hopefully build on this performance. We won't come up against players like Cummings & McGinn very often. Was also surprised that Hibs played a back 3, with wing backs. Seemed awful negative, at home to Dunfermline. However, it made them hard to break down. Between our equaliser and the winner, it could easily have gone either way. The result was never in much doubt though, once it went 2-1.

Two horrendous mistakes decided the game there. I don't know if BRE just mistimed his jump or if he really thought he could head it back to Hutton, awful bit of defending all round and I'd have expected better. Didn't have a great view of the second but it just looks like we didn't deal with it; when the ball is squared across the box like that, just get rid of the fucking thing.

Well-taken goal from Reilly after what was our best bit of play in the game (minus Higginbotham wee flick and cross-field pass).

We really couldn't have argued if Hibs were 3 up at HT. Funny thing is, it wasn't as if we were shockingly bad or Hibs were playing sublime football, but the play was very one-sided in the first half.

Btw how good was Keatings corners at times? Whips them in like sparky used to. Better than Stevenson taking them

Been really impressed with him this season. We need a good set piece taker with Hendo gone.

A couple of decent efforts. One went out for a goal kick at the far post which Hutton knew absolutely nothing about. Would have though you'd have worked out some kind of "system" for the second half at set pieces, Hibs must have had about 10 in the first half and we never looked too sure at any of them.

Thought was an excellent game of football. First half was all Hibs, 2nd half we came a lot more into it but Hibs prob just deserved the win.
Cardle and Higgy caused a lot of problems. Moffat was poor, we are desperate for another striker. Our lack of depth is poor, I looked at the bench with 20 mins to go and thought Jesus Christ, there is literally nobody to bring on...

Literally nobody? Odd that we decided not to have any subs on the bench then.
