Granny Danger
Alternately http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-43001931 On the thorny issue of the border between the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland, Mr Barnier said there was agreement that a hard border must be avoided, but added: "It is important to tell the truth. "A UK decision to leave the single market and to leave the customs union would make border checks unavoidable." I assume no one can be in the least surprised by this. -

SweeperDee
Won't happen. First step to united Ireland. Foster will block Would love nothing more than a United Ireland tbh. However if it does transpire that NI can get a special deal, I want to see the Scottish Govt hammer home the message that we aren’t getting equal treatment in this nation of equals.

Surely we go back to square one again? Hard border means no deal hard Brexit as Republic of Ireland won't agree? N.Ireland stays in Single Market and UK government loses DUP support ?

It’s going to get tougher and tougher for the Tories and their fellow travellers. All this talk about leaving the customs union and no hard border is proving to be the utter nonsense that all thinking people knew it to be. If the Tories were only dependent on the DUP to enforce Brexit I’d see this as the breaking point, but Corbyn is going hand Brexit to May on a plate.

Inanimate Carbon Rod
Rumours on twitter that May has agreed to go down the no deal brexit route to keep the right wingers happy who are threatening mutiny. What a fucking disgrace, I think there will be mass civil unrest coming.

What a fucking disgrace, I think there will be mass civil unrest coming. Doubt it. We'll just blame the omniclustershitstormfuck on the EU. We've now moved on to blaming the consequences of our actions on the consequences of our actions. "They're putting a border up?" "They're not going to give us free trade?" "They're taking the EU institutions away from the UK?" "They're going to make decisions without us having a say?" "We're better out than staying in with these monsters." Channel 4 news has turned into a daily diet of 'Remoaners' rolling their eyes at the absolute madness that is being presented to them by the other side of the debate. The other night on the subject of the Irish border some Tory MP was telling is there wouldn't be a border because 'we' wouldn't put one up. Insinuating that any barriers to trade and movement would be 'their' fault. Not ours for leaving the fucking trade bloc, but theirs. Tonight it was the claim that we'll wander in to a Canada like trade deal (whatever the f**k that means) so everything will be fine, the tone giving the impression that the EU wouldn't have a say in it. Absolute batshit fucking mental. ETA: Missed the bit in bold. Edited February 9, 2018 by Joey Jo Jo Junior Shabadoo

Inanimate Carbon Rod
Really doubt that What bit? I’m only reporting what i’ve read. I also don’t think that the right minded members of the public will accept that and will protest.
