Looks like good news that could help block a hard Brexit. Yes he can, motion today was only updates from NI. Bit more difficult for him to close Parliament with the Government having to update them every two weeks on NI progress. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-48930417
harry94
There is no empirical evidence to suggest that the majority of Labour and would be Labour voters in Leave constituencies voted Leave. There is evidence that there is a move from Labour voters who did vote Leave to now vote Remain. It doesn't really matter if it's a majority though, if it's just a quarter of their support (which is around the figure suggested by pollsters) that were pro leave in 2016, losing just a few percent of that could have huge implications under FPTP.I get your point but if you go through the list of marginal constituencies, there's a huge number of Tory/Labour marginals and any future government would rely heavily on doing well there. You can see why MPs are worried about that aspect.

harry94
Sky are saying that Boris' team is considering the idea of using a Queen's Speech to shut parliament down for a couple of weeks and allow us to default into a no deal scenario.
Ira Gaines
Boris will definitely do this. I can't believe folk actually think this isn't a possibility. Especially under Boris, who gives no fucks about anything other than lining his pockets.

Detournement
It still seems highly unlikely Tory MPs will vote themselves out a job. Jez won't be able to form a government and a Cross Party Arsehole Alliance doesn't have the numbers (although it would be a handy way to clear the decks in the Labour Party).

I don't thi k he has any intention of doing this but knows saying this sort of shit will play well with the tory electorate. As soon as hes elected he will drop the idea of leaving with No Deal and deny it was ever a possibility.

We can only hope so, but given his obvious lust for holding office he will want to be prime minister for at least as long as Thatcher or Blair. Unfortunately, the obvious way for him to achieve that right now is to do what needs to be done to crash out for procedural reasons at the end of October and get the Brexit party voters into his camp in the aftermath. Time to stock up on tinned goods and other non-perishables, basically.

I'd give him a month before he turns up lamentably unprepared for PMQs, says something diplomatically catastrophic and loses a vote of confidence.
frankthetank22
It's being reported that house prices in London are taking a hit, that's surely going to hit some of these fat cat MPs in the pocket!
