Basically, everything will be fine....Far East trade opportunities...30,000 UK businesses may need to take one for the team. Oh, and she likes Whitney Houston.
Granny Danger
Any threats against people carrying out their jobs is unacceptable. There seems to be a lack of detail of why such threats are taking place and what the objective is of making the threats. What is the practical implication, will such exports simply not happen during the staff withdrawal? -
Granny Danger
Shellfish, bees, soil, what next? It’s almost as if agreeing to a set of rules just before Christmas to come into effect on January first might not have been a good idea! Bee and soil stories, shellfish one already posted. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-bees-burned-uk-eu-rules-b1796201.html%3famp https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/amp/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-55894650 -

Easily fixed. Just clean up the British coastal waters that don't meet regulations. Shouldn't take long. Are Scottish waters clean? Or are they polluted with oil ?

Billy Jean King
Easily fixed. Just clean up the British coastal waters that don't meet regulations. Shouldn't take long. Are Scottish waters clean? Or are they polluted with oil ? All live bivalve molluscs need to be "pasturised" in layman's terms before sale. This happens no matter where the market is. It basically involves the shellfish being kept in holding tanks exposed to UV to kill any bacterial matter. EU rules do not allow importation of untreated shellfish from non EU countries and UK suppliers MUST have known this yet don't appear to have invested in the treatment tanks ahead of Brexit. Presumably they just assumed "Johnny Foreigner " would bend to Great Britain which when it comes to public health regs is bonkers.
peternapper
Was watching a programme today about Cornish fishermen who thought they were onto a good thing exporting crabs to China which meant a huge increase in earnings, turned out around the same time westminster upset the chinese it was found that the crabs had a high Cadmium content so now no import allowed to China, maybe just have to send them to Europe Oh wait a minute

Not that long ago coastal villages and towns ran their raw sewage directly into the sea via large iron pipes, mussels and crabs thrived at the outlets.

KingRocketman II
running shoes ordered from Germany that should have been here last week still held up due to "Brexit related issues". One minor shipment so presumably large goods movement still affected 4 weeks after EU Exit. Therefore even for the most hardened Brexiteers within the Government, even they concede that their ineptitude and laziness in negotiations, as well as unwillingness to consider transition periods, have caused this and will continue to cause this for quite some time. I wonder if Gove goes to order something on Amazon but then sees that the seller is based in mainland Europe when he goes to his basket - "Christ, I really wanted those motion sensor lights for my hallway cupboard, but I've truly fucked that up for myself."

Minor shipments and shipments of products of plant/animal origin are having far more problems than big shipments of things like shoes. Big companies know how to fill in customs forms, small traders don't. The problems with plant/animal products are probably going to get worse, though, as the UK hasn't really implemented checks on imports yet. I admire people's optimism in ordering small items from the EU at the worst possible moment.
