Granny Danger
If it weren’t for Covid the effects of the Brexit deal would be the main issue in U.K. politics with Johnson having nowhere to hide.

Any misfortune that befalls architects is good though. Right up there with corporate lawyers as “Bullshit jobs that people somehow think are difficult and important”
NotThePars
Laughing at reading the headline literally. Just tons of architects showing up at conferences and none of their pals recognise them. Stalin-style doctored photos, the lot.
Detournement
Just think of all the glass and plastic monstrosities the EU will miss out on if they shun British architects. Don't they want their entire continent to look like Kings Cross?

There are more than two positions on the aesthetics of buildings. Poundbury is fucking hideous but a lot of contemporary stuff is awful as well (new Glasgow Transport Museum, the turd hotel in Edinburgh, the Walkie Talkie in London).
NotThePars
Love the Transport Museum if only for how often I've been smashed outside listening to techno.

SandyCromarty
Went over to the DM online to check their coverage on the Belfast rioting over the last days and nights and I was absolutely gobsmacked at their take, according to them. "Spiteful EU has fanned the flames of Division in Northern Ireland" and "During Brexit negotiations the EU, encouraged by the Irish Government, set out to weaponise Northern Ireland to scupper a deal" The rioting has nothing to with westminster's Brexit negotiations and what they accepted and agreed upon??????????????????
Detournement
The Sofagate incident continues to be hilarious. Because President of the Council of Europe Michel got a chair and President of the European Commission Von Der Leyden didn't Italian PM Draghi has called Erdogan a dictator. That's despite the only one of those four people who even stood for election nevermind actually winning one is Erdogan. Definitely seems like a dog whistle.

You can bet their readers will agree wholeheartedly with that take on things. This is simply one of a multitude of issues that is not disappearing any time soon. Johnson’s day of reckoning will come.

You've got to wonder at a newspaper printing that, what is the point when we all know that Boris and his cohorts are to blame for what's happening in Belfast, they agreed to the deal and to make out it's nothing to do with westminster or Boris but all the fault of the big bad EU is fuckin ludicrous. But as you say that is what the Brexiteer's want to believe and Boris will take that on board and elaborate by saying the EU held a gun to his head forcing him to sign. They knew from day one that the Irish Border would be a problem. The whole Brexit campaign was based on lies, spin and the truth distorted to suit. You reap what you sow.
