The Pars vs The Rovers part Deux: The quickening

Recommended Posts

We were absolutely awful yet still Dunfermline couldn't beat us, shows where their problems lie. They are terrible upfront.

Good point in the end. Can see Dunfermline staying down in that relegation scrap. Golden chance for them to win today.

Lots of negatives today but Thomsons set pieces were awful. Centre half's dream.

The pars looked awful today, yet still managed to look a little better than us. They just had quite a few players that don't look up to standard, where I think we just need a change of tactics and some clever substitutions at the right time. Higginbotham looked liked a player and he was certainly getting a bit of joy in the second half.

Craig Thomson was gash, shame if that's the best we have.

Cardle was stinking. Standard.

Thomson seemed to have forgotten his cards today. Raith constantly pushing and fouling at every header. McManus was getting away with loads of niggly fouls all game then suddenly booked.

Edit also the linesman was pathetic too. Their fullback mchattie? stops then realises Clark is going to win the ball then dives and wins a free kick. He did exactly the same thing against higginbotham and no foul was given. We need to more streetwise like raith. They get the most out of every opportunity.

The one at the end was annoying. Late corner, bodies all lumber into the box and he dinks it harmlessly to the front post.

We probably could've taken the three points had we been more clinical. Callachan in particular was guilty there. A game like that would've been utterly glorious with Bobby Barr in it. Matthews isn't a winger, and it's a bit of a failed experiment. We've got a ridiculous abundance of central players with Robertson getting close back to fitness. I was worried when McHattie was struggling towards the end of the first half. Other than that our defence was quite solid. Davidson handled Cardle at pretty much every opportunity. M'Voto was absolutely superb. If he cut out the rather silly turns on the ball (fine if they come off but they're rarely worth the risk) then he's excellent.

Still third in the league which is the important thing. A special mention for the farside stand where the fans were greeting at every opportunity. M'Voto put in a blinder of a tackle at one point and the stand went utterly beserk. Same goes for McHattie when he won the ball, then got shoved in the back.

Pish game!

Pars have a shite defence who shat it at any real Raith opportunity, sadly it only showed how awful we were in the middle and up front and that this wasn't punished.

Mind you it showed the big team up for the bunch of shiters that they are that more than half half of that home stand was empty.

Only consolation is that it's a better point for us than them.

What an utterly shite game that was. No atmosphere, no goals, no red cards, no penalties and no idea how Davidson cleared the ball heading for the far corner from Higginbotham's cross/shot.

Sad times when it's apparenly our best display for ages and still managed to look pretty rough. Farid should have scored, Ashcroft decided it was his turn to try and sell the jerseys this week but Higginbotham impressed as did Herron and Talbot (apart from being skinned 2nd half).

Oaft, you don't want to bring up attendances after that away crowd today.

Why not? you lot have absolutely nothing else going for you.

The big crowds were your only play... now you can't even claim that.

As for us, supposed wee team what else were you expecting?  4,000?

You're third in the league, your first away derby at your rivals in a few years, we're shite and that's what you brought? Brutal away crowd.

We can still claim that, when was the last time you had more than four thousand fans at a game? Very good home support today by any mark.

You can understand the home support barely passing 4,000 given how honking we have been this season. I would have expected more than 1,500 away fans, you've hit ~2,000 a few times before and that's with your team in poorer positions than you are now.
