American hawkishness over Iran goes well, well beyond Trump. Even the #resistance's fave Republican, John McCain, would love to bomb Iran if we're going off what songs he likes to sing.

Americans are shite about letting bygones be bygones. The older ones are still raging about the Tehran Embassy siege and the Beirut Embassy getting blown up. I'm sure the real reason for the Iraq War was Saddam sending a hit squad out to Kuwait to try and kill Dubya's Dad when he visited soon after the first Iraq War.

Why are the Russians saying their experts have been all over where it was supposed to have happened and there's nothing there? And also blaming the rebels/jihadis for what didn't happen?

And the rebels are supposedly sophisticated enough to falsify the effects of a gas attack? One which, of course, didn’t happen? The Russian story is all over the place.

The CNN coverage of the FBI raid on Cohen’s office is quite funny.

It’s as if they are desperate for him to fire Mueller and/or Rosenthal as they think it will be the end of him,

I'd love it if he fires Mueller.  He'd almost certainly be impeached, and the tear-stained whataboutery from the Republic pipsqueaks like Ted Cruz would be glorious.  On that media note, though, this is how Fox News reported the fairly incredible (even by today's standards) developments of the last 36 hours.

This is interest from CNN website, particularly the second paragraph.  The US attorney who applied for the search warrant was a Trump appointee!

The President also lashed out at Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing the Mueller probe and Attorney General Jeff Sessions who recused himself from it.
Those two officials played no role in the FBI raids which were based on search warrants obtained by a federal judge by the US Attorney of the Southern district of New York, Geoffrey Berman, a Trump appointee.”

Geoffrey Berman, a Trump appointee.”

Who also donated the maximum amount allowed to Trumps election campaign.
Who is also a protege of Rudy Gulliani, one of Trumps biggest fanboys.

But of course, it's still all a partisan witch hunt.

On Monday, the F.B.I. raided the hotel room and office of Michael Cohen, the longtime Trump Organization employee, and seized e-mails, tax documents, and business records—including some related to a hush-money payment that Cohen made to Stormy Daniels, an adult-film actress and director. The Washington Post reported that Cohen is under investigation “for possible bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations,” and the matter had apparently been referred to prosecutors in New York by Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election. Here, Adam Davidson, who has written for The New Yorker about Cohen’s role in the Trump Organization, lists three factors to keep in mind about the Trump associate:

• Cohen is often described as Trump’s personal lawyer. He is a lawyer, and he did work for Trump personally, but not in a traditional lawyerly capacity. What he did for Trump and the Trump Organization is bring in business deals. It’s more accurate to say that Cohen was one of Trump’s deal guys. Maybe the most important deal guy, after Trump’s children.

• Cohen was directly involved in the Trump Organization’s pursuit of international deals in the years leading up to Trump’s Presidential campaign. During this period, the Trump Organization did business with corrupt politicians, sanctions violators, and money launderers. A key question, which carries significant legal ramifications, is how much the company knew about these partners’ records and reputations. Michael Cohen can answer this question.

• Trump might have reason to worry about Cohen coöperating with federal investigators, but his two oldest children—Donald, Jr., and Ivanka—likely have even more reason. Cohen, Donald, Jr., and Ivanka were essentially the Trump Organization’s entire global development team when the company was shaking hands with questionable business partners around the world. If Cohen were to coöperate with investigators, they would surely ask him about Trump’s children.

The Russians hardly trying to dampen the flames either

Russia’s ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, said on Wednesday that any US missiles fired at Syria would be shot down and the launch sites would be targeted.

Launch sites in this scenario being US/NATO warships, submarines and airfields based in surrounding countries. That's a two way shooting match between major powers, something we've avoided for 70+ years if it were to come to pass....

The end of the world is coming...

I always thought the end of the world would come one day.  I am somewhat dismayed that I have to find out about from the twitter feed of an incompetent, lying, egotistical, deluded, corrupt, arsehole.
