New clubs in the East of Scotland

Dundonald probably thought there would be no more teams moving over and they'd have a decent Superleague season whilst working towards a licence, now with three or possibly up to six clubs leaving they don't have much choice as the EoS will be the better league.

Right now 6 current Superleague clubs have announced: Bonnyrigg, Penicuik, Hill of Beith, Camelon, Newtongrange and now Bo'ness

I was meaning since they decided to defer their application last month - they mentioned the SFA suspending licences as a reason why so maybe they were swayed by TJ - surely now that won't make them hold off until next season. https://www.fifetoday.co.uk/sport/football/bluebell-ask-to-have-league-application-deferred-1-4730687

Sorry, i missed the timing you meant. You're right, at the time it looked like the end of it and TJ's kosher news was enough to put a wee scare in them to hold off.

If Linlithgow, Broxburn and Dundonald do go that is 9 out of current top 11

Broxburn supposedly said yes last night and communicated it through to Bo'ness. Dundonald have been expected to move their application forward since all this started up again. Jeanfield are having a meeting this week. Linlithgow's meeting is not till 4th June, presuming they've already put an application they get to sit back in the catbird seat with everything decided for them

Leaves Sauchie and Kennoway as the only current Superleague clubs South of the Tay that haven't mentioned anything publicly so far.

Can someone provide an up to date list of who has confirmed as applied and who is rumoured!?

Red is North of the Tay. Orange is public debate/meeting over whether or not to move. I'm seeing Sauchie getting mentioned as moving according to Linlithgow forum.

The East of Scotland League is beginning to look like this!

Here's an Ardath Photocard from the 1930s of the Penicuik team that played in the East of Scotland League. I think that's the (Percival) King Cup in the photo as the back of the card says that they won it the season before. Winning the King Cup is now something that the Rookie Cookie can aspire to next season!

Is that Willie McGinlay in the front row?

That is indeed the King Cup, TtB.

Did they not have an ace striker and champion billiards player glorying in the name of "Fats" Ramage?

Might be easier to split the big list into categories:

existing members (13)... Hawick, LTHV, Preston, Leith, Tynecastle, Heriot-Watt Uni, Peebles, Burntisland, Stirling Uni EOS, Coldstream, Eyemouth, Ormiston, Tweedmouth

admitted at EGM on April 26th (13)... Bonnyrigg, Hill of Beath, Camelon, Musselburgh, Haddington, Blackburn, Tranent, Dalkeith, Edinburgh Utd, Crossgates, Easthouses, Dunipace, Inverkeithing
+ Dundonald withdrew their application on the day

announced late application to AGM on June 7th (6 to date)... Penicuik*, Dunbar*, Arniston*, Craigroyston*, Bo'ness, Newtongrange
*these 4 clubs appear to have been given a provisional OK at an EOSL meeting on May 24th

I was just wondering where the bottom part of the King Cup shown in the photo went because when Edinburgh City won the King Cup I don't remember it being presented. Probably lost in the mists of time..

Worth saying that Bo'ness - in their old guise - have actually played in the EOSL before: in 1938-39 and what little there was of 1939-40.

After dropping out of the Scottish League they ended-up in the Edinburgh & District League, a rival to the EOSL which had been set-up earlier in the 1930s.

However ultimately the EOSL prevailed, the EDL collapsed, and a variety of clubs ultimately made their way across.

I will believe the Oakley information if/when its official. Going on comments made by an Oakley commitee man at their game v Lochgelly two weeks ago it would be a major u-turn.

There's been a few major U-turns of late and didn't you express similar disbelief over Hill of Beath doing it a few months back? Think it's reached the point now  where the east region is pretty untenable moving forward unless you are north of or can see the Tay in the town or village where you live and even Jeanfield Swifts appear to be on the verge of defecting.

Didn't just play there, they were champions in 1938-39 and Bo'ness FC amalgamated with Bo'ness Cadora to form Bo'ness United in 1945, so there is direct continuity with the old senior club.
