New clubs in the East of Scotland

That would be lunatic if clubs like Whitburn and Pumpherston leave and not very clever even if they don't. There's a part of Lanarkshire that juts into West Lothian between Blackridge and Harthill, so Armadale is closer to Lanarkshire than many people probably realise, although it's not like the Harthill scenario where Harthill is actually in Lanarkshire but Harthill Royal's ground is just over the boundary in West Lothian:

In Armadale’s case in particular, based on regional boundaries you could make the same case for them staying where they are given their ground is located right on the verge of West Lothian about a minutes drive from the Falkirk boundary.

Any news on Linlithgow Rose Community Juniors FC that went into abeyance for the 2020/21 season? Will they return to the Amateurs for 2021/22 if Covid subsides? Or is an application to the EOSFL imminent?

Questions remain:
1. Could the Xcite Linlithgow Leisure Centre be upgraded for Senior football?
2. Would the club have to change their name?

Anybody residing in or around Linlithgow know the latest position?

There’s definitely room around the pitches to develop a “proper” ground of sorts that might accommodate and be deemed fit for senior football. Unsure what the status of the land ownership is and would expect there to be some resistance from the leisure centre given  the current parking limitations.

The sensible things to happen next would be that all West Lothian clubs join the EoS, the various tribute acts go back to being amateur, Harthill get to choose because they legitimately straddle the line in terms of their local community, the mess in Tayside gets fixed through constructive engagement rather than having that part of the country being viewed as way too far to travel by all and sundry, and the SJFA, WoS, EoS, HL, LL and SoS find a way to have a national nonleague cup similar to the FA Trophy and Vase down south.

The bold bit 100%, or at least create their own clear and separate identity.

I can't see it happening anytime soon.  As you say, more and more clubs (particularly in the West) will be going for Licencing and therefore Scottish Cup / SFA membership which provides the finance that the Junior Cup never did unless you reached the semi-final stage.  For many clubs it cost money.

The South Challenge Cup fills the void without the trips north of Dundee, and I know some within the game want to try and develop it further with potentially finals at Hampden now that the SFA own it. Perhaps it could develop to encompass the HL as well into a national comp, but I can't see it happening anytime soon. It seems the HL wouldn't be much interested as things stand, it would probably need the carrot of participation money.

Can you imagine the Wick v Musselburgh scenario in the Scottish Cup this season also happening in a revamped national non-league comp, a few postponements leading to a trip north midweek to play Rothes or Lossiemouth or Brora from darkest Ayrshire (or vice versa) to fulfil the fixture, with no prizemoney at stake.

I don't see anyone that matters giving it much thought until the NCL, North and East Juniors are in the pyramid. Then it'll take some thought on how to make it work to be worthwhile for everyone, not just those looking for a day out in May/June.

Although a day out at Hampden seems like a nice carrot to dangle in front of non-league clubs if ye want a national non-league trophy if it ends up with BSC v Inverurie in front of 1,800 people at Hampden that sounds dire. See if the Challenge Cup or something had the final on the same day at the same venue and had one ticket for both games that'd be more appealing.

Is that not what England does with the FA Vase and Trophy finals?

A wee update on the remaining West Lothian junior clubs......,apparently Stoneyburn and Armadale are joining Harthill in applying for the WoS,while Whitburn are still undecided.

Bathgate are in a bad way,mr.napier wants to go but so far no one has came forward to take the reins.

Livi and Pumphy heading for the EoS..

It was said six clubs had applied for the WOS a couple of weeks ago, maybe that's who is making up that number. Hopefully they are rejected and told to join the EOS.

Wants to go as in, leave the club or join the EOS?

Realisitically I can only see the WoS accepting a maximum of 7 more clubs for 2021-22.

That would give them 3x Conferences of 18. I don't see them splitting into 4x Conferences due to having to relegate so many from the West Premier. If there's at least a handful legit West of Scotland sides applying, i'm not sure the WL teams would get the support.

Personally I have no preference in what league Whitburn end up,just delighted they're finally making the move!!

Traditionally it should be the EoS but if they're closest rivals are all moving to the WoS then I can see why they may go west..

Go West. Be split across 3 Conferences,as there's 4-5 of them that'd likely be one rival in their 2021-22 Conference. Then risk being spread across the 4 tiers that the WoSFL will create unless they're lucky to end up in the same division.

Exactly, the conferences are 16/16/15 so any new teams will likely go into conference C (twice) then B and A (twice) and so on. So if the list of new clubs is Kilbride Thistle (C), Armadale (C), Fauldhouse (B), Harthill (A), Stoneyburn (A), West Calder (B) Whitburn (C) then you're only playing one of your closest rivals.

And then when the conferences make way for divisions the following season, they could be split across the First, Second and Third divisions with maybe none, one or two other WL clubs in their division.

Whereas if everyone goes EOS, they could be together in a Third division or split across two 14 team Second Divisions (at least it would be half a dozen WL rivals).

Thanks for the update  - much appreciated.  Any news on the three “tribute acts” and Syngenta? Hopefully the three tribute acts can “tweak” their club names to ensure entry into the EOSFL.

So in summary five southwestern West Lothian clubs (Fauldhouse, Harthill, Armadale, Staneyburn and Whitburn) plus Kilbride Thistle could explain the six WoS applicants mentioned on the Kilwinning Rangers twitch?

Except that the Kilbride Thistle rep said that they intended to apply rather than had already done so.

Did anyone (from Kilwinning Rangers?) go as far as saying that six clubs had already applied? Has this become morphed into six have already applied? Not to say that it won't happen.

Doubtful all of them account for the 6.  As the focus of that conversation goes on to looking at potential links with the local amateur leagues to extend the pyramid.

Not long before the mention of the applicants they were also saying how they were trying to move things forward and not slip back into the Junior ways. In which case i'm not sure they would have spoken as enthusiastically on helping recruit new clubs into the league.
