Oor Nicola Sturgeon thread.

Id be surprised if NS serves another 5 years, if she does then she needs to actually do something instead of just deliver soundbites that sound good at the time but later end up never happening. That's worked until now but its starting to wear thin. Focus on the day to day and improve peoples lives not just say it but actually do it.

Though looking at the options for who could take over probably mean she can carry on doing feck all quite comfortably

Nicola Sturgeon has delivered nothing as FM. Salmond actually got things done. She just faffs about.

Can somebody give me a (sensible) tl;dr about why this is a thing now

Slow news day?
There hasn't been much traction for SNP/Sturgeon Bad lately, so somebody had to invent a reason to print quotes from the usual suspects?
Combination of the two?

Could be a poll a couple of days ago that found while she's still the most popular politician in the UK by a long way, she's less popular than she was.

If she's got any sense, she'll make this her last term regardless. Nobody retains popularity indefinitely, and she'll be dragged out onto the street eventually, even if she does manage to pull off independence.

Was quite surprised when she dodged the ‘will you lead the party into the 2026 election’ question. Was sure she would. If she’s not going to surely she has to step down by 23 or 24 at the latest. Give the new boss a fair crack of the whip before the poll.

Party leaders nearly always do that to avoid being regarded as lame ducks for the remainder of their term, and open warfare between the wannabe successors. No idea if she wants to stay on or not though, you'd expect her to be knackered by now.

Brilliant to see DOTL having a complete thermo dynamic combustion across a few threads. All it takes is to disagree with them and they go postal! [emoji50][emoji50][emoji50][emoji38]
I don't think laughing at you counts as "complete thermo dynamic combustion" tbh.
