The St Mirren move was always going to end in disaster. It’s mad he goes out with that dead posh tennis player. Would’ve thought she’d have kept him more on the straight and narrow. 2 hours ago, Mark Connolly said: The one in town is between Royal Exchange Square and Princes Square. bishoptonbuddie
I had my reservations about signing Rooney from the moment it was suggested that we were looking at him. I hate to feel vindicated especially in circumstances like this but if his demeanour on the park has been anything to go by then he appears to be a ticking time bomb. As a result, rightly or wrongly, I'm not in the slightest that he has found himself in this situation. Certain elements of the support appear to love the fact he just goes out to kick f*ck out of opponents – but he should be above that because he has the talent to be playing a high level. However, this has clearly been something of an issue throughout his career. The club are evidently taking this very seriously, at the end of the day they can't preach to be a family club and then not back it up by having a strong party line when someone oversteps the mark. Since Keith Lasley has come in, the club have played a huge emphasis on the club's 'mission' and regularly post about "our mission is to be the best community centred development football club in Scotland". We have partnerships with Kibble and UWS, so anything bringing the club into disrepute will be seriously frowned upon. Some fans will quickly compare this to Paul McGowan, but this is a different board and arguably a more ruthless coaching team, and I wouldn't be surprised if this spelled the end of his time at the club if anything serious comes out of this. At the end of the day, this could have an impact on the squad, which was always my fear. Our defence is threadbare as it is.

Yes, a shitehole in all forms, famous for GMS somehow ending up in the Kelvin after a night there. The one in town is even worse, it’s a bams idea of a fancy night out, expensive as f**k, always mobbed and the queue for the cubical is 10x that of the urinal. Also seems to be the venue of choice for footballers, seen videos/pics of loads in it.

Guest
I'm uncomfortable with the "daft laddie" type of chat. We don't know anything about the incident, but Rooney is 28 years old. I think he's old enough to know that at the very least, maybe as a professional footballer, you should maybe have a wee think about whether you should be going out drinking in the city centre. Recent things I've been really proud of at the club have been the steps towards becoming an inclusive community club, including the launch of free sensory kits for fans during match days at our last game. I was also really pleased when I saw our team photo - all of the team is there, from the fantastic staff at the ticket office, to the people who run the catering at the training ground. It's not just footballers who are part of the team at a football club, and that's the sort of team I want to support. "Boys will be boys" chat can get in the bin.

If he was 18 you'd say he's got a lot of growing up to do and it's a wake up call. At 28 he's all the man he's ever going to be and it's long since past the time when he should be screwing the nut. Of course, there may be mitigating circumstances that we won't know until more details are public but the point stands, at 28 you're no a daft boy any more, so really, this 'ach he's just a lad' patter doesn't fly.
Grangemouth Bairn
The reaction to this on social media is bizarre. You’ve got Celtic fans bragging about and claiming credit for what Rooney is ‘alleged’ to have done and Rangers fans gloating because Rooney is ‘one of them ‘. Well done St Mirren for being decisive in suspending Rooney btw.
