He ended up not playing for almost a year before Rangers took him on.

Signed for Rangers in May and looks like he was with Aberdeen until at least November?

Anyway, similar situation in that the kid / their parents hold all the cards once they hit 16. Can stick with the club that nurtured them or say "thanks, but goodbye".

Very similar problems to last season. Midfield sitting too deep and passing the ball forward without supporting the forwards instead of carrying it forward. Too many side and back passes allowing the opposition to get everyone behind the ball. We need to get the ball forward a lot faster and support the front players. Gallagher was one player who was carrying the ball forward sometimes passing through the midfield but then would lose it causing panic behind him. But he was showing the midfield what they should have been doing. Thought Carson looked shakey. Gallagher didn't look like he would be adding to his Scotland caps anytime soon. Ayunga and Olusanya need to learn to pass/not fall over. O'hara was very good on Tuesday but only appeared occasionally yesterday.

The midfield worries me. On the bench we only had Flynn and Reid and Reid may be off. Kiltie is not a midfielder. Threadbare to say the least.

Very true viewpoint on where we are.  Our lack of midfield depth is a real worry even when Baccus eventually comes to Scotland. There is no drive. O'Hara went missing yesterday and only Ethan stood out in midfield.

We have no dig in the middle of the park.

Robinson is is trying to copy the formation of Liverpool with players who are struggling.

Our front 3 with the exception of Grieve dont look to have goals in them-

This season is a genuine worry so far

IIRC guys like Mallan & Morgan both went for around £300k as it was accepted this would be the same as any development fee due - I know Reid is younger but is £125k really all we'd get if he was to go at the end of this season?

Would be good bit less as Mallan and Morgan both left when they were 21 (Reid is 17). The development fee calculation is based on the number of years training at the club from age of 12.

Dundee United were ordered to pay £200,000 to Rangers for a 19 year old  (https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/13193015.dundee-utd-anger-204k-compensation-rangers-charlie-telfer/) so Reid's fee probably would be around what Celtic are offering now.

Was just going with the post on AFC chat from the guy who follows the youth teams. Possible that he's meant almost a season and I've taken it as a calendar year 👍🏻

If Celtic have worked out that the club would only be due £125K in development at the end of this season, and that's how they've arrived at their valuation,  then I'd tell them to GTF and hang onto Reid until then.

Robinson has been clear that academy players are going to be a part of the 1st team squad this season so surely to f**k everyone from the player, his agent and his father should realise that, for the sake of his development, he's much better playing Premiership football than 5h tier.

Don't know how much game time ge will get for us. Robinson will be under serious pressure unless the team improves so may not risk Reid.

The boy got barely any playing time for Queen's Park in third tier.

Regardless of what managers say about building for the future etc, they know they are only 6-8 games away from the sack, so if he thinks he can take the £125K and sign someone for the team now……………….he’ll be all over it.

Benefit of selling him as opposed to losing him at end of contract is that we can build in a sell on fee which I’m 99.9% sure we would do (despite not being in the know in the slightest)

This is exactly why B teams should get so far to f**k. Celtic and rangers (and hearts to a lesser extent) will just stockpile their youth teams with the best young talent about to win the lowland league which is full of boys clubs and uni
Teams (it will be a great league eventually but currently a shambles). The SFA have enabled this mess, by doing everything they can to get B teams shoe horned into league 2 despite it being voted down by member clubs numerous times.

Seriously depressing, and we wonder why we never progress as a nation.

He is treading a fine line with our fans already. He certainly is under pressure. A few more results like yesterday wont help

He’s treading a fine line with our many, many brain dead supporters. The section of the support that aren’t happy unless they’ve got something to spew about.

The sensible fans amongst us know that Robinson won’t be under pressure after one game in the league cup and to even suggest that he is is fucking ludicrous.

Except its not based on one game. Its based on his record since taking over.

You may be a fan boy but the jury is out so far

I must admit it’s a bit early to be calling for Robinsons head at this stage of what is in reality, pre season.

Having said that it’s inevitable that he’ll be under pressure from the fans should we stutter through these league cup ties in a similar fashion to yesterday.

The midfield and forward line remain a concern for me, can’t help feeling we look very lightweight in key areas.

I think that sums it up. He had a piss poor start to his job last season so any goodwill he had has been used up.  He said he needed his own players.....now he has them he will be judged accordingly.

St Mirren is a business and if any employee isn't performing then they will and should be replaced.

To be clear we are absolutely NOT there but he is far from bullet proof.

Dylan Reid to hold signing talks with Celtic tomorrow. Strange that we knocked back the same offer from Rangers.

Probably didn’t have the same add-ons Celtic were prepared to offer. As well as the B team coaches, Postecoglu will speak to him over Zoom according to the Record.

Rangers will have to get back in touch pronto and match Celtic's offer if they want him. Could be a Celtic player by the end of the day....
