Financial doping happens at every level of the game. In the SPFL you get overinflated stadium sponsorship deals. In the juniors you get players getting "jobs" with sponsors and committee men.

Either way that's a lot more than I thought would of applied. I was thinking they might get to 24 next year. 8MileBU
Correct much to my frustration and it is something I am furious about as its a huge opportunity lost. The amount of clubs going will pretty much kill the East Juniors and those big clubs left behind i.e. BU and LRFC will take years to catch up. Last year when trying to sign players was the first season we were losing out to LL clubs for players and this pattern will continue. Junior football is toast. When I read this earlier I genuinely thought you were just bluffing and an announcement of our EOS application would be imminent... [emoji53]Just been speaking with someone I know that’s involved at another current Junior side, and part of the conversation was something we both agree on. With several Junior sides looking to go EOS, should their applications be successful, the knock-on effect will probably be that the pool of decent players/targets/signings in the Juniors gets smaller and therefore the standard of the Juniors drops even lower. There’ll be a lot of players will relish the prospect to play in even just a round of the Big Scottish as opposed to playing in the Juniors. With all due respect to the likes of Dalkeith and Blackburn, they are far smaller clubs in the east than Bo’ness and Linlithgow and it’s a sad state of affairs that there’s a high probability that players will opt to go to these smaller clubs because there’s better prospects while we’ve sat on our arses in a grade that’s going backwards.

Other than Dalkeith and Camelon everything else at the moment is just supposition and guesswork, all will become clear after the EoS EGM but too many people think they are in the know about this club or that club when they don't actually know, for a fact, any more than the next man. It's all 2+2=5 stuff and suddenly 5 has become the gospel truth. All we really know is that there are more than those 2 applications in and the face of junior football in the east is changing, driven by the clubs who look set to leave the SJFA and their west coast bias behind. What we now know from the official EoS statement is that "a substantial number of applications have been received (by the deadline)" So this isn't just about "supposition and guesswork" , but is now more a case of which clubs have applied, and will they announce their intentions individually (like Blackburn) before the EoS's April EGM ?

I don't think we'll be competing for players anytime soon! I'm just as excited at the prospect of our (good) U19 side now being able to enter the LL/EoS U20 Development League next season and our second (first year) U19 team filling the gap a year later, and strengthening the player pathway to the Junior Senior side. Assuming our application is successful of course. Edited April 2, 2018 by Burnie_man
kefc
With the amount of teams moving and some could say being brave, following SFA licence guidelines and sacrificing years being part of the SJFA then the SJFA’s hand has been severely weakened. If the plan was to bargain for the SJFA in the East to go in alongside current EOS clubs at tier 6 or 7 (if as expected the EOS has 2 divisions) then surely in terms of sporting integrity that can’t fly where they can amalgamate with the EOS on the same level, the clubs and committees won’t go for it. If the SJFA do come on board in season 19/20 then in the East they would bolt on underneath the 2 EOS Leagues at Tier 8. Teams who have applied so far and have been pro-active instead of re-active deserve enormous respect.

Given Kelty's recent knowledge of junior clubs, and the Questionnaire results, do you think that all of those which haven't applied this time, will want to be 'bolted on', or will they wish to remain in a truncated version of an SJFA league for non-pyramid clubs (ie leave or remain ?).
Gazzah
If Bo’ness and Linlithgow havnt applied (which it looks like ) what have their boards/committee been doing the past 3 weeks you can see from the posts that teams were making sounds to move clubs their sizes should be at the forefront on the move away from juniors

I think the clubs that have applied understand the reality of the situation - maybe they are getting a jump on the west clubs too because I struggle to believe a wos league is going to happen anytime soon and not at tier 6. The sjfa is going to have to come up with something coherent and quickly but I don’t think there’s a will within the sjfa and as the survey results show there’s significant disagreement. If you take out 16 east teams - 10% of the sjfa memembership - well, that makes 10% less in favour of the pyramid within the sjfa. The sjfa will lose the very clubs it needs to support change.

Not yet but it will be once enough juniors have moved across. Started with the champions last year and looks like many will follow this season. At some point things will tip in favour of the EoS.
