Premier League 2017-2018

Recommended Posts

Once Liverpool got the 2nd it was easy street and another big win and 4 goals for Mo what s signing he has been.

Absolutely baltic and the least said about the drive back the better - snow the whole way. The M6 was like a farm track.

2 weeks off now until Palace away but at least we will get to see Robbo at Hampden on Friday :)

The strength of Man City exacerbates the problems at the club as well as the perceived poor quality of football, but the problems are not all Mourinho’s doing and the squad still looks incomplete. They might have beaten Sevilla and won a few more games in the league, but they simply aren’t ready to compete with either City or major European clubs.

Aye. Earlier in the season he had a bit of a get-out as they were accruing points at a rate that would have been enough to win the league in a fair amount of previous seasons and it was only the ridiculousness of City's form that was stopping that. Now they're looking like finishing around 82 points, which would only be enough to win 2 of the last 20 titles, so that argument doesn't really wash anymore.

FWIW, I didn't agree with that argument as they quite clearly have the resources to be as good as this City side, but that was the narrative in the media at the time.

West Ham United have handed lifetime bans to five supporters who entered the field of play against Burnley earlier this month

Typical half arsed statement from the board, five fans, then several fans. Yet not one piece of evidence showing anyone throwing coins.

The fella who took the corner flag (recreating the Bond protest of 92) was rung by a club official and told if he apologized for his actions they would look into "alternative options". He of course told them to f**k off. He is now in touch with the FSF.

Sullivan had a meeting with the WHUISA yesterday, and once again he has fucked off the majority. Particular highlights being "We just need to have a fluke season like Leicester" "We do go for cup success". He also said the best that the club could hope for is top eight, pushing the top four, this of course is after his initial ten point plan when he took charge, and numerous promises about the "next level" when the move was happening.

He also most worryingly advised he has no plans to leave in the near future, and will hold out for at least another 5-6 years. If that is the case, I would expect West Ham to start playing behind closed doors very soon.

Anyone that cannot see Robertson is a class or 2 classes above Tierney is blind.

And three years older.  Tierney better defensively, much better.  In reality there's nothing between them, slightly different and both can play for a long time at the very top.

Tierney could do with moving sooner than later though or his development will slow a lot.

David Sullivan illegally avoided £700,000 in tax as he funnelled money into West Ham United after his purchase of the club, The Times can reveal. Sullivan, 69, has been ordered to pay back the money after a court ruled that he deliberately tried to benefit from the transfer of £2 million from his family company in 2010.

The latest saga. Just what he would have wanted before Saturday.

Is he though? That’s never going to be comparable or clear until Tierney is playing against the same standard of opposition that Robertson is each week.

Tierney is a natural defender,  but I take your point.

i know what you mean , you'll see tierney flying in to tackles etc and he's definitely able to play CB aswell , robertson probably couldn't do that, but robertson has took me by surprise at how good he is defensively, rarely beaten in one on ones without going to ground

Robertson has impressed me in many ways since going to Liverpool, in particular his work rate, crossing, and positioning on the park.  The last point really is what separates him from Alberto Moreno at Left Back, Moreno has a lot of pace and his crossing is arguably better but he gets caught out of position way too frequently, abandoning his (admittedly already kinda shite before VVD arrived) Centre Backs.

In "teams in crisis that are about to be relegated" news, looks as though West Brom are about to go the full Sunderland, get relegated and find themselves up financial shit creek without a paddle

Like Sunderland, how many players will be on bumper contracts as well that have sucked the cash out the club? With very little to show for it.

Everyone in the media and even fans have a go at the manager when the team is performing poorly and not getting results. But when you are up against this sort of thing in the background, what chance have you got?

The players aren’t going to be putting a shift in if they aren’t getting paid.

Surely he should be done for tax evasion?

You can only hope. However it is now clear why the HMRC raided the place a few months back.

Karren Brady also had bit of a nightmare interview in the Guardian yesterday, https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/mar/25/karren-brady-ive-never-walked-away-from-anything-and-im-not-going-to-start-now

As well as that, one of those banned for alleged coin throwing asked to see the evidence. The club couldn't provide any, and think that they have got him mixed up with someone else. His ban has been revoked.

Three different protests planned for Saturday's fixture against Southampton, a loss and it will turn even further toxic.
