I thought the side letters were just the club company telling the players:

"Look, these are obviously part of your earnings, but for some obscure, non sporting-benefit-obtaining reasons, we're not putting them through the books. They're totally legit though. Totally."

Oh dear.......potential salty tears on Edmiston Drive ..............

Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign veteran centre-back Martin Skrtel this summer.

The Slovakia international is currently plying his trade for Fenerbahce but is available on a cut-price deal with his contract running down into its last year with the Istanbul outfit according to Turkish publication Fotomac.

Skrtel, now 33, has also been linked with Glasgow Rangers and a possible reunion with his old team-mate Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.

But he is keen to get back to playing in the Premier League after an absence of two years following his Anfield exit.

A move to Rangers was dismissed by his agent as he stated that the Scottish giants were unable to match his wage demands.

His representative Karol Csonto said: “Martin would be very happy to play under Steven Gerrard.

“But sometimes, regarding transfers, you need to put so many things together and in this situation it’s impossible.

“When there is only a small difference then you can find a solution, but in this case, the salary of the player in Turkey is four or five times more than what Rangers could offer.

“That makes it impossible.

“Also, Fenerbahce will never let him go because he is their most important player and they need him for the Champions League qualification.

“Eventually, the chief executives of the clubs did speak about a transfer but they both agreed the difference between them is too much.”

Are the side letters not a get out of jail free card for the EBT recipients? I thought that was the whole purpose of these side letters?

Foreigners coming here to work will be guided by their employer. If any wrongdoing is discovered later, then the employer should be liable.

Pay the money or agree to have the records of competition wins amended.

According to the Football Manager database (no exactly tablets written by Moses, but still a reasonably educated guess) Skrtel is probably on around 80k a week.

So the **** extending themselves to their maximum are probably able to pay about 20k a week tops. Just to put that into perspective, that's about 2/3rds of what Steven Naismith is earning at Norwich...

they were supposed to be a guarantee that they would get the payment.

This is because the trust assignments needed to be discretionary.

there is no get out of jail card.

The records of competition wins should have been amended from a very early stage in the entire saga.
The fact the authorities continue to pretend it was all somehow irrelevant is utterly shameful.

The letter for Flo (wee tax scam i th8nk?) clearly states his tax liability would be covered by "the club" for the UK and Norway?! letter also mentions his contract with "the Club".

Some sevco fan needs to explain to me why Rangers put everything in terms of the Club and not Company? anyone?

The finance stuff is dull. This has turned into another BRALT.

Personally i think that it's hilarious that, for example, Nacho Novo is shortly to get a bill for half a million pounds because he played for the cheats almost a decade ago.

Hope some of the players end up homeless to be honest.

I hadn't realised that staunch never walk away two some of Paul Murray and Barry 'Bang and the dirt is gone' Scott had left the club to make way for new investors. I guess poor old Barry losing his job in his famous advertising role must have been a factor.

No why couldn't have Cillit Bang been the main sponsor, would have looked great on the world famous blue shirt and would have been an excuse to add a bit of orange into the home and away kits and make more money for the club.

Image result for barry scott cillit bang gif

I think they missed a trick here.

Would have helped them if they were trying to launder money as well...
