Not sure what Leeds' kit makers (Admiral, I think) made of it, although I'd imagine kit contracts were light years apart from where they are nowadays. Aye, he did, and he also wore an Admiral kit in red at times. It was based on superstition. Harvey was born in Leeds, his dad was Scottish and he saw himself as a proud Scot. Now living, I think, in Lockerbie, via Orkney, aged 75.

And here's him taking a smack in the face from that man McQueen again on 5:33 of the video below...another example of that short fuse @Monkey Tennis Actually, Harvey's wearing his red Scottish goalie top when he gets McQueen'd which is handy to camouflage the blood... Le Tout P'ti FC
Very serendipitous. Second day in succession I’ve ran into a Rose Reilly image. This time at the most Scottish football themed street there can be. At No.50 we have the Queen of the South; and at No.58 the Rose Reilly.

HibeeJibee
Century ago today: Note of the 18 clubs only 15 accepted the invitation with Helensburgh, Hurlford and Leith Athletic declining. However just before the season started Helensburgh agreed to join to make up an even 16. When initially proposed a month before 16 clubs were envisaged: no Helensburgh or Hurlford. East Stirlingshire had just failed to gain re-election to Division Two - with Dundee Hibs elected. At the end of 1923-24 both Arthurlie and East Stirlingshire were promoted to Division Two with Lochgelly United and Vale of Leven relegated from it. Having rued their earlier decision Leith joined for 1924-25 increasing Division Three to 17 clubs but Dumbarton couldn't sustain 2 sides and Harp resigned just beyond halfway. Nithsdale and Queen of the South were promoted to Division Two with Forfar Athletic and Johnstone relegated from it. Unfortunately the new division was proving increasingly unsustainable with Galston resigning at halfway in 1925-26 and several other clubs failing to complete their last few games... So after only 3 seasons the division was abolished. Forfar - who were running 3rd behind Helensburgh and Leith Athletic - were elected to Division Two in place of last place Broxburn United who failed to gain re-election. If you thought Dumbarton having 2 sides in the Scottish League is stretching credibility - Arbroath Athletic also tried to get themselves an invite. Surprising how many of those names are still around.

Dundee Hibernian
Took me a time to (maybe) work out who this is, on the front cover of a 1971 Football Scot. I think it's Dumbarton's Peter Coleman, happy to be corrected.

George Merchant and Andy Irvine were ex players from the successful team of the early 50s and Bert Slater would go on to be the goalie during Dundee's run to the European Cup semi final in 62/63. John Prentice managed the Dee for a few years from the late 60s onwards building a very good side before retiring with ill health in around 71/72. Finally the team was managed by ex Dundee coach Reggie Smith who not only saved them from what looked like certain relegation but also turned them into Scottish Cup winners
Bogbrush1903
Can this be true? The Panini album sticker book, presumably 1978 edition, blurb under the Ayr United Aberdeen-born manager Alex Stuart says he rejected the Aberdeen job in 1977, who then turned to Billy McNeill whilst Stuart left Ayr United a year later to take over at St Johnstone... Can anyone draw more light on this?

Can anyone draw more light on this? I'm not sure about the Alex Stuart situation, but I'm trying to work out who Ayr would have been playing on the day Hugh Sproat was wearing a red jersey. He always wore green against the currant buns and blue against the jungle Jims.
