Club game also in rude health as Celtic + Rangers had European finals and Kilmarnock a semi later in month. Many would argue spring 1967 was the highest watermark of Scottish football. Naturally then the Tartan Army booed Scotland off the park . Eduard Malofeev was later booed off at Tynecastle when he was manager there!

Le Tout P'ti FC
Gates were open at Hamilton Crescent, home of West of Scotland rounders team, as I wandered by today. Site of the first Scotland v England game in 1872. An utterly dominant Scotland were held to a nil-nil draw by the visitors. After this promising start, it only took Scotland another 95 years before becoming World champions at Wembley. Nice wee venue in the shadow of Partick Burgh Hall. Very scenic.

Eednud
Good quality film of friendly in the Niedersachsenstadion,, Hannover on 12 May 1964. Fairly muted goal celebrations in those days. I can remember listening to part of this on whatever BBC Radio Scotland was called back then. Referee: Poulsen (Denmark). Spectators: 65.000 West Germany: Tilkowski, Nowak, R. Steiner, Szymaniak, Giesemann, W. Weber, Libuda, A. Schmidt (30. Reisch), Seeler, R. Geiger, G. Dörfel. Scotland: Cruickshank, Hamilton (42. Holt), Kennedy, Greig, McNeill, Baxter, Henderson, White, Gilzean, Law, Wilson Goals: 1:0 Seeler (32.), 2:0 Seeler (33.), 2:1 Gilzean (66.), 2:2 Gilzean (85.).
Eednud
Couple of pics from the above game. Scottish players in the top photo are Jim Baxter on the left, I think, John Greig is no. 4 and Denis Law on the right and the only Scottish player in the other one. Odd looking building in the background. @German Jag do you have any information on what it was? Edited May 12 by Eednud

Going by this, taken from here, it would have been the old main office which would also have contained the changing rooms etc. in the north-east corner of the stadium (Maschsee in the background, allows to determine the direction). The athletics track got ripped out in 2003 as part of a renovation programme for the World-Cup in 2006. Would imagine that all the Scotland fans in attendance would have been british army which had a massive presence in the region at that time. Edit to add. Was known as the "Regieturm", translates as control-tower. Edited May 12 by German Jag additional explanation

Definitely a lot of army uniforms in the brief glimpse of Scottish fans in the video.

Still find it hard to believe Gilzean only got 22 caps spread over 8 years. I know we played less international matches back then but it seems a small number for such a class player. 12 goals scored so lack of goals wasn't the reason for not getting capped more

AyrshireTon
13th May 1995 Derek Lilley scores the only goal from the spot as Morton beat Meadowbank Thistle 1-0 at Cappielow in the final game of the season in the new 2nd division. The title was already secured (barring a defeat and a huge goal swing from Stirling), but this was notable for being Meadowbank's last game as "Meadowbank". Below, the players parade the trophy. In the background you can see the Meadowbank fans waiting at the front of the WDE, presumably concerned about the future of their club. I believe that one of the club's officials came out and spoke to them.

Stuart Wilson was playing his last game for the club and handed his shirt to one of the fans. This invoked the wrath of the board who insisted the police come and get the shirt back (by which time it had been passed back to another fan who sprinted out the ground. Get it up you Blobby). The young me is in that picture on the terrace calling the board something unsavoury. Many Meadowbank fans turned up in dark suits and black ties as if they were going to a funeral. I do remember Morton fans singing "Meadowbank, Meadowbank" at the end for which I'll always be grateful. Thanks guys.

Me and my mate decided to take in your first game as "Livingston" the following season - a 2-0 win at Montrose in the 1st round of the League Cup (we had no game). We then got another look at them later that month at Meadowbank Stadium when Livi beat us 1-0 in the 1st round of the diddy cup.
