The Aberdeen Mega-Hyper New Stadium Thread

Recommended Posts

Fascinating When was that from? I’m assuming that the depot will have been behind the police station which served as the ticket office and club shop for a long time

It was levelled as part of the redevelopment but you can see it on the left here

~1845, so evidently pre-ground and difficult to argue with police horse manure being sold from the site of police station.

Perhaps Kingsford could double up as some depot for all fertiliser, tractor vaporising oil, horse haylage and other agricultural supplies to compliment the nearby garden centres.

This is a bit like those American football teams where the owner decides more money can be made taking the club away from its roots and relocating elsewhere because a brand new stadium is on offer.

Will the Aberdeenshire franchise keep the same name, or will that be looked into at the time of the move?  Westhill Wanderers has a nice ring to it. Kingsford Kickers not so much.

Yeah it's actually nothing like that at all.

I'm only going to say this once.

The Heart of Midlothian have wiped the floor with Aberdeen in terms of supporters through the gates each week throughout history. There's also that small fact that we are the Capital's establishment club - they are a provincial north-east backwater.

Are they slightly more successful? Sure. Hearts have underachieved in large spells throughout history.

Oh, and as for the Aberdeen boy saying that we've always 'counted tickets sold' and they've only counted bums on seats... iZT8ghc.png

True fantasy land stuff.

In the eighties and nineties Aberdeen outsold both Hibs and a Hearts in sausage rolls, in the noughties it was hot dogs, and now Aberdeen are the highest pie sellers between the three clubs. And it’s the best pie in the country. (Apart from St Johnstone’s steak and chorizo, when it’s on sale)

Both Edinburgh clubs are hard to take seriously as they just seem like arse cheeks lite, especially hearts

However most teams that are building a new stand/stadium tend to more often than not through a period of some pish football that correlates directly with the time it takes to build, so hopefully we can take advantage tbf.

I hope they break ground before the next round of the cup.

Imagine a city with just one club and bottoms as your literary device. Does that make Aberdeen the arsehole?

Back in 1845 Tynecastle police station would have been out of Town and a couple of generations later when Hearts moved out to Gorgie it was on the outskirts so there were plenty of people predicting that it was too remote

Plus ça change

I lived in Aberdeen for 5 years and really liked it. Certainly not a shithole. Loads of great bars and places to eat, plenty of decent shops and the Vue cinema is brilliant. Shout out to the hidden gem that is the Maritime museum.
