Rock v Wheel - Saturday April 21st

Recommended Posts

How many times this season have we conceded in the first 5 minutes of the second half? (One for So8 - it feels like a lot) Aitken must just let them all have a bevy at half time.

First time seeing Falkirk since the 1-1 draw at the beginning of the season and I was impressed with them going forward. Looked a bit shaky at the back and I can imagine that's where their problems this season have come from.

One more game until we can focus on the play-offs. Really not looking forward to them currently. Momentum is everything (as we experienced when we went up through them) and right now we have none.

At least when we go down we wont have to suffer Marshmallo tragically trying too hard 4 times a season.

At least SOMEONE associated with Falkirk has been trying all season.

On that form Dumbarton won’t make the play off final never mind stay up. They best hope that their injuries clear up in the next 10 days.

We were decent today but not playing much however you can only beat what is in front of you. It would be wonderful to keep the Jak

Decided to look at the first ten minutes of the half to get more of an overall picture - but have included the times so you should get an idea.

Used Championship games only, so it's out of the 59 we've conceded in total.

  • Morton (50)
  • Dunfermline (55)
  • St Mirren (47)
  • Queen of the South (48)
  • St Mirren (49)
  • Dundee United (51)
  • Inverness (50)
  • Falkirk (47)

That's not a huge amount, however all but the first two have came since the turn of the year - so it's certainly another recent negative trend. The bottom six goals came across the last 15 games - and we've won just one of those mentioned, against Dundee United.

Now if you consider the first ten minutes of the second half as 10.6% of a game (assuming it runs to 94 minutes) we've conceded 13.5% of our goals in that time. I've no idea if that's about average, above average or actually quite good. Mainly because I don't think anyone's ever bothered to actually look into that sort of thing.

Edit: Oh yeh, that obviously doesn't include Iain Vigurs' 56th minute goal against us on Wednesday.

No, but we will need to suffer him when we come back up as Falkirk will be stuck in the Championship for the foreseeable future.

Enjoy League 1 you fucking state. Your time in the upper echelons is well and truly over.

This thread really has been awful...

On a more serious note, we could reaaaally do with getting a natural full back fit. We need to get Grant Gallagher away from RB. Will need to check but if the first goal wasn't offside then the chances are it was him who played him onside because he rushed into a challenge and got nowhere near it - leaving him lying/standing in no man's land.

Then he was turned ridiculously easily for the 2nd goal which was essentially the killer blow after half time.

Jamie Ewings also looked quite off it after half time. The 3rd goal was a good hit but I'm not sure it would have got past Scott Gall. Then the last one was a decent hit again but came from a distance and wasn't right in the corner or anything.

The only positive is that we have started to score again. It's just a massive shame we aren't trying to push forward a bit more in order to put more pressure on, especially considering how easy our 2 goals actually were yesterday.
