D'Jaffo
So you are saying that there are fans who don’t think that Mathie is the guy going to take the club forward , of course we are in deep deep trouble and that’s why the guy came in to get us out it I think he’s saying that Mathie isn’t necessarily going to solve all our problems. We aren’t going to be guaranteed to sign all our first choice players and keep everyone we want. That’s not how it works. Mathie will help us to no end but I think the damage was already done with Bradley and we’re going to be very up against it with Maxwell.

It’s a long process Your correct it’s a longer term challenge , anyone who thought he would have it fixed by now are miles off the mark , this window will be a survival window with a big challenge on next season being in top 4 will be the challenge then I would think as a minimum Edited January 3, 2022 by Finlay21
Superhursty7
I would take 8th right now and build for next season, Mathie already has a job turning the club into team that regularly challenges at the top end of the championship and maybe one day gets up it's going to be so much harder starting that journey from league 1

Sadly it’s not we are still in deep, deep trouble. Hopefully we make an appointment in the coming days that the fans can get on board with and get behind I still think we are 50/50 for the drop. Appoint the right manager and make 4/5 quality signings (especially if Maxwell goes too) and they all gel and we can get out of this mess but it's not a certainty by any stretch.

That's not meant as a negative statement, he has a decent CV and fits the club well but he's in the door less than a month and he is seen as the saviour of Ayr United, that may and hopefully be the case in the coming months and years. I am open minded about his appointment and what he has said and done has impressed me so far. I am also cautiously optimistic that the football business will be better be better ran now and hopefully that starts showing on the pitch soon, Smith was clearly struggling and the legacy of his first year in charge might impact us for another year good and bad.
No_Problemo
Imagine our new manager goes into his first game this Saturday and we have made no signings and lost Bradley and Maxwell. On top of that, Adeloye is suspended. What a laugh that would be.
rb123!
According to a killie supporting friend of mine he's heard it's between Bartley and O'Dea for the job which sounds plausable, we've perhaps shirked away from O'Dea last week with the rumoured firm "no" response or very high compensation fee and decided we're willing to pay it to get the guy we want. Other possibilty is we're after a coach currently out of a job and it's the coaching staff he wishes to put together who are currently with clubs which could be causing the hold up. On Bradley going back it was inevitable especially if the player has personally reported back to Hibs of his displeasure, end of the day for all we know he might not have been happy so it could be for the best if he goes back. Maxwell could go down to someone like Leeds U23's and come back to us on loan for the rest of the season. If we lose him too however 3 signings in January probably really does need to become 5 arrivals however Mathie and Co are shrewd and will have it all hands on deck now to get the best possible coach and signings in this month possible. Keep calm lads and it'll all come in to place.

Because otherwise that Comical Ali defence is covering for the reality that the club doesn't actually have a right guy to appoint, and/or has been told to bolt by their preferred candidate. Which would also explains Kilmarnock's predicament with Jack Ross.

Would rather we took our time and appointed the right person rather than just appoint the first jobber that showed an interest i.e Dougie Imrie.

Just because Morton appointed Imrie about 10 min after they sacked McPherson does not make that a good appointment and the same goes for ourselves taking time to get the correct guy, we are also trying to appoint someone over the festive period where folk have other stuff on and COVID restrictions have been tightened, the fact the Killie game got put back gave us a few extra days to play with and not have a knee jerk reaction.

Do we have any players that could be recalled to make sure squad numbers add up

The speculation has been created by us on here and we've all been putting names forward, discussing them and then making assumptions based on nothing other than certain posters personal thoughts. I really don't think we can blame the club for anything or accuse them of doing something that has only been dreamed up on here or speculation by some mediocre tabloid journalists.

itzdrk
Aye, Arbroath haven't beaten us so far. Chucked both games away and lucky to get a point by the end of both. Been on the other side of that ourselves with a good team that just has this garbage team we canny get it done against.

Guest
Although I really like Bradley and I believe Maxwell could have a big future, unfortunately we have failed to use either of them often enough or in the correct positions, as such, losing them may not be the major disaster that many think, especially if we can replace them with proper Midfield players. That remains to be seen of course and there's no doubt that it does make things more difficult for us, of that there's no doubt but that could all change in the flash of a cheque book !!
