AyrAtlanta
Made no attempt to have this game playable. A proper club like Arbroath have had covers down all week.

Definitely this. It’s a joke. Same with Inverness, didn’t bother an ounce to get the game on. The ice clearly hasn’t been attempted to be removed. Could have been treated and crushed, shovelled and then the remnants would have melted. Also the pitch could have been covered all week, simple. Clubs at this level really should be doing everything possible to get their game on (like Arbroath and Partick this week, us last week) and should not be allowed to pick and choose when they’ll make an effort to make a game playable. A lot of disappointed Ayr fans today. Only positive is we’re in the hat for the next round.
ayrunitedfw
Think there are still a good few Ayr fans heading up and attending the Moff event.
Mod1967
Tinpot non league clubs should be kept where they are, astro turf, temp stands,no support and cant get rid of a bit of ice ,these are the last thing Scottish football needs

Latest number of travelling Ayr fans still going sitting at around 25 , then with the locals there is going to be a good attendance , Walker McCall ( for us older ones ) also taking part , any fans who are still travelling due to not being able to get refunds on trains hotels etc and were not planning to go to event , can still order tickets , guest speakers are The Moff, Walker McCall, Lee Bullen , Neil Simpson and looking to get Graeme Mathie to take part as he is attending the event Edited January 21, 2023 by Finlay21
stevep56
So this means Ayr and fans need to travel to Aberdeen next Saturday for the league game and the following Tuesday for the cup match?
1nickydevlin
If cove were playing Aberdeen or the old firm they would have been busting a gut to get the game on .
Mod1967
Exactly, having been to cove RANGERS, seen their strip, badge ect they only seem to exist so the local **** have a team to annoy the Aberdeen support, went to the Pittodrie bar after the game up there the Dons supporters were delighted we beat them, they certainly know what there all about.

Lochwood
Have to agree with a lot of the comments on here about this, no attempt to get that game on at the very least the ice should have been cleared and stepped up . Arbroath put out an appeal for fans to help covering there pitch on the Sunday after our game on there website.
Thereisalight..
I'd imagine it was a lot of lost money for us in terms of accommodation etc. Pitch looked playable from the pic tbh
AYRSHIRE_ANGUS
Having seen Arbroath FC's efforts and their fans in getting their game on l wish them every success in getting to 8th place or higher.
grazza
Really is embarrassing that a club in professional league can't take basic efforts to protect their pitch knowing what the weather was likely to be and today it is 6 degrees. Clubs need to be held accountable for the state of their pitch. Even the highland league wouldn't let Fort William play while their pitch was a mess yet at tier 2 we have this with Cove and Dens park unable to cope with a spit of rain. Until teams getting official warning, chance to sort it out or threat of games being moved, forfeited or switched to away team playing at home what reason do some of these tinpot clubs have to get off their backside and show a hint of professionalism.
shizzlemanizzle
It’s either ‘tinpot’ or manufactured. Did it suit Cove to have the game called off? Signings in the pipeline? Players out injured?

See Peterhead got game on New signings can't but clearly players who were injured and fit again for the rescheduled tie can. I don't think its unreasonable to question the efforts of Cove to get it on given the pictures of the pitch yesterday. They didn't even have covers down. Minimal effort on their part and they should be called out for it. They are a professional outfit not a Highland league one.

Caledonian
If Cove did make precautionary measures the club should make a statement to confirm what those measures were. In truth they bottled it. Nothing was done at all. If an unsuccessful effort had been made then no more could have been asked. You will not find one Cove fan who was remotely bothered by the postponement. They are probably hoping for another cold snap to prevent Friday's match going ahead. Volunteers to clear the pitch? Where were they? Pitch covers? Where were they? I would have no gripes about the postponement if an effort had been made.
