I miss the days of getting young lads on loan/newly released from the Scottish top flight. Doohan, Houston, Rose, Harvie and Kelly were 🔥

Sure you could add Smith and Shankland but not sure Houston belongs on that list given his next move.

Stick him in with Roscoe, Ross, Anderson, Cameron, Barjonas, McAllister and Afolabi which would prove that route still has it's fair success of failure.

Quantify the difference in budgets ?

Did you miss the part where Raith were bought by a new consortium and their finances are measurably better than last season.

Coupled with a far better quality of signing this season compared to last and you’d be hard pushed to argue they don’t have a better budget this season.

There's still more to it than that, head coach is involved in setting the parameters that the scout will go out and look for.  Bullen wasn't sitting thinking he could probably do with a new right back and dumbfounded when presented with a bunch of data on some centre mids.

The problem with this argument is that Bullen is gone, and yet our recruitment is still woeful.  Doesn’t absolve Bullen of anything, but it does at least suggest he wasn’t the ONLY problem.

But you don’t know it’s woeful as you haven’t seen the players play?

Surely it can only be ruled a bad signing if the player himself doesn’t play well.

How can it be woeful at this very second, which of our 3 new signings have performed poorly since we signed them?

But he doesn’t have to exclusively sign from that list. Players will be scouted and suggested based on what Bullen is looking for. Hence why we ended up with so many “hard workers”. Anyone can look through the data but Glendinning is there to compile it. He isn’t pushing a certain name onto Bullen. He’ll go away and compile data on literally hundreds of players. Some we’ll sign, some we won’t and some we might keep track on in case we need them I.e Young and Senga.

I do think that Bullen wasn’t all that great at selling his ideas to players and that’s played a part in us missing out on so many first, second or either third choice targets.

Of course not but some are always going to come from that work or he wouldn’t be in place.

Yeah, but as with Akinyemi he will also scout players and provide information based on that too. Obviously no idea how much work he put into the summer signings in terms of that. If your recruitment guy comes back telling you how good a certain player is, then you are going to listen to his input otherwise there is no point in him being there.

There are clearly numerous players being suggested that just aren’t good enough, and everyone plays their own part in that.

Well, of course - I thought it was self explanatory it would be based from the profile of player the manager asked for tbh!

Other teams round about us manage just fine. we have to be different. We pay enough to bring players up from England to sit on our bench for 6-10 months before paying them off.

I would like to know exactly how much money has been wasted doing that, including players from abroad. Or to be more exact, one player.

I’ve heard this argument once too often.  (Actually not once, it’s many more times than that).

All these players could still happen. Loan window doesn’t shut till end of February. If there is any truth in Stephen Kelly then that would be a cracking signing. My favourite loan player other than Chalmers.

McHugh and Sanders can both play full back (according to various sites) so perhaps one of them isn going in at right back?

As for Raith Rovers, they've actually lost more players than they've signed this window.
