Good win anyway today, quite an important one too. Next Friday should be tasty given their win today. It really isn’t complex to understand why Scott Brown might bring on McKenzie when we are winning 1-0.

Agree if the score was the opposite and we were chasing the game he maybe wouldn’t have come on. how did hastie do?

This type of post is just getting to the tragic stage. the guy offers nothing. was rarely available for a pass. when he had possession he went backwards. missed a great chance too. running about contributing nothing is not a good work ethic.

Pay attention to him defensively then. Absolutely nothing wrong with being safe in possession when you are winning either.

Probably reflects the fact he's had a little less game time than the others up to this point. Don't think he's miles off it; I have a certain level of confidence that he's going to be a net contributor over the season.
muZZa__44
McKenzie is a good defensive sub to make as he'll run about and chase, you can tell Hastie will be a bit on and off so the sub made sense, as said earlier he probably isn't the guy you want to bring on when your needing a goal cause he ain't a goal scorer but he does the dirty work

Has this already been mentioned here? yeah was brought up before, makes sense for him as he needs proper game time to get back up to peak match fitness and he wasn't going to get ahead of Dempsey or Rus and while he is better then Syla, Syla is able to run about more so this loan will help him and then he'll almost be like a new signing when he comes back in January, hopefully this means we do have someone coming in soon as we are now down to 3 Centre Mid's and McKenzie as your options

Think he’s the type where he can be having a stinker for 89 minutes but pop up with a goal or an assist. I felt last week against Buckie we lost something bringing him on for Murphy but Brown obviously feels he deserves a chance after scoring.

All well and good he defends but when you need him most going forward he is absolutely hopeless.
ecocme
Decent performance today and first time I’ve seen the team this season. Thought Dempsey, McCann, Rus and Stanger were excellent. Thought Paddy looked the weak link at the back and Mosunda did well but didn’t look comfortable on the right. I was a little bit disappointed with Oakley to be honest so another option up front would be good. Brilliant ball from Rus for the second and a great finish by Dowds. One very good save from Stone but needs to work on his kicking a bit. We looked comfortable all day but I thought still a bit iffy at the back. Hamilton will struggle this season.
dam00114
If the set up in midfield is same next week I think Airdrie will carve through us. Far too open. Very mixed bag of a performance collectively and individually. First half we were largely poor but much improved 2nd half. Both starting wingers were very poor - Hastie compounded this by being lazy defensively and rightfully hooked early. Both Cbs were very solid. Dempsey MoM for me. Rus fairly quiet until he burst into life for the 2nd goal. Great run and through ball and excellent finish by Dowds. Win most important thing but lots of work ons. Very early in the season though so definitely got to focus on the positives, of which there are many

Your not gonna hear me say McKenzie is a good striker cause his record shows he’s not a natural goal scorer, but he’s strong enough to be a pest for defenders and quick enough to still provide something, I’ve always said he was Dipo’s best partner up front as he did a lot of the dirty work and helped give Dipo more freedom to do what he did best he’s best used as a sub to bring on when your needing to hold on to a lead if McKenzie was anything other then a striker he wouldn’t get as much hate end of the day if and when he does leave Ayr he’ll likely be a solid option in league 1/2 similar to a McGuffie/Hilton and in future youth players can look to him as proof if you can work hard enough yoi can break into the first team and be a mainstay/make it in the top 4 leagues
diegomarahenry
Difficult to say how good a win that is due to it being early in the season, Hamilton looked well drilled and on another day could have had a draw. Rus looks miles ahead of anything in the Championship, he did 70% of the work for Dowds goal with his pass, Dowds finish was superb. We still looked open in midfield and are a much better team when we have the ball. We didn’t create much but had two very good opportunities and took them both. Good to get off to a winning start. Only 35 more to go.
