Thing is, recruitment isn’t just about the shite we have signed.  It’s about what we haven’t signed.  The failure to replace the full backs, the failure to sign a centre forward to replace Dipo (who we knew was leaving in January), the failure to sign experience in the middle of the park, the failure to sign a different type of midfielder to compliment the too similar Dempsey and Murdoch, the failure to sign an experienced centre half to upgrade the perma crocked Musonda and the ultimately not good enough McGinty..   But then Bullen has no idea how he wants to set up, so do we even know what we’re looking for?  The completely scattergun approach to recruitment in the Summer was a demonstration that there is no plan, and no clue of how this is all supposed to fit together.  Our sole tactic last season was to give the ball to Dipo.  This season the sole tactic is to give the ball to Chalmers, which teams have already sussed out.

Yeah - I absolutely agree with you, that’s what I was getting at in terms of the forward planning bit.

There definitely wasn’t a coherent plan, we have signed some bits of quality but it very much strikes you as just signing decent players that are available as opposed to being part of a bigger plan.

Playing a 4-4-2, with two very attacking wide players while having poor full backs and an inexperienced central midfield is the prime example.

Is part of it down to a warped loyalty to players who were already at the club?

There’s far better players out there than Paddy Reading and Nick McAllister yet hes stuck by them for whatever reason despite the awful performances

Dundee United -3 is 6/1

If we play a 4-4-2 with McGeady and Murphy wide, it’s definitely possible.

I think I would just be playing a 4-3-3 with Dempsey, Syla and Senga in the middle and trying to get Amartey in on the break.

Not a chance will Amartey get a chance today.

Abysmal. O'Reilly marking fresh air.

A bed shitting job.

And now I've fucked it.

Just change the name to any of our outfield players and there’s a chance you could be right at 3:15pm.

That is an interesting lineup. I wonder whether the plan is to shell it up to Dowds and Bryden and have Murphy and McGeady picking up the second balls.

I imagine it is, but that’s a funny plan!

You know what we’ll do today? Get two two oldest guys in our team on to second balls 😂

Look, we've got 11 hard runners out there. You only win football matches by running hard.

Dundee United just cleared it off the line! When Doc got caught in possession on the edge of their box. Dowds hit the shot and Holt off the line.

The funny thing about Bullen is that he doesn’t play runners when we actually might need the odd one though.

The defence look very exposed, but hasn’t went badly wrong so far.
