Orders a drink in a saloon, then fills the bartender full of lead with the immortal words, "Feller didn't give me a receipt".

The academy has numerous reasons to exist, but surely one is to develop players to the extent they can be sold on - benefiting the first team and the academy itself with the reinvestment of those funds. As well as future academy signings seeing that clear pathway.

This is a nice benefit but this thread has already reached Burnley U23s levels of people deciding how they're going to spend their half-million payoff. If a real talent comes through then one can hope the Academy (which is a different company from the club) benefits as much as the player. If you think about the money first then you have your priorities wrong.

The way the market is right now, he could move to Arsenal, never play a first team game and be transferred for an 8 figure fee to a different team and be released 3 years later without kicking a ball.

That particular accounting scam requires the player to be classed as developed by the selling club, which IIRC is three years at their own academy.

That’s fair enough, if he continues his current rate of development it’s about the best move for him and advising around that and not the biggest fee ultimately. That also makes sense long term anyway, in terms of sell on fees etc.

I would guess some of any fee would go back to the academy.

Trying not to read too much into it but see McAvoy has done a fan Q&A thing on the socials and looks like he's not in any sort of training gear so would be surprised if he's in or around the team Saturday but you never know.

That's incredible Viz knowledge 👏👏👏. Just need to find a way of incorporating 'The Rock n Roll dog turds' and 'Frankensteins cock' into the chat now.

As the old saying goes, "Ingrained in your head" thread for this pish.

It's a shame Viz isn't allowed as a specialised subject on Mastermind. (An assumption I'm making, based on its complete absence over the last 35 years.)

Last time i saw Ally Woodburn he was very bald and working in finance; definitely not a casual, although it would be funny to see him gang-auditing Section B and the likes.

Decent draw getting Peterhead at home, an away trip would have been a nightmare. I think we can go quite far in the cup but can barely remember the last thing we had a decent run in it.

Besides the results this season there have been several other markers so far which have been positive and point to a potentially very good season. Home form✅ Depleted defence✅ Coming from behind✅

All things which we weren't really successful at or coping with last few seasons.

Still a few tests to come though like the end of year schedule and two games a week.

Think with all the B teams playing in the lowland leagues it left only five teams in the reserve league, so most of our non first team player are playing in the 18’s etc. not sure it helped us last year.

are we in the reserve league? And if not. Why not?

Jeez bold seems so aggressive on this forum!
Not sure why but feel it’s missed for players that are lacking first team appearances

I am happy with the draw, been a few years  since we played Peterhead it’s definitely winnable. Also means we don’t need to go 100% full strength and can rotate slightly
